AMD K6 > Pentium
Random Fact: Clock-for-clock, many of AMD’s earlier CPUs such as the K6 and Athlon were actually faster than Intel’s own offerings, and so AMD adopted the “PR-Rating” system, which compares the speed of the CPU directly against a competing Intel model, while in reality running at a lower clock speed.
The AMD K6-233ANR CPU arrived today. Let’s just say that while it was painful to get everything running properly, (Including upgrading the BIOS twice, then downgrading once), the resulting speed boost is pretty appreciable.
Technically, the K6 isn’t even supported on the mobo that I have. While it’s supported on the third revision, the AOpen AP53-3, I only have the AP53-1, the earliest model. This board came before the K6, and so it only goes up to 166mhz. Either way, the underclocking is probably for the best, ‘cause the thing runs a lot hotter than the old Pentium did. I might consider buying a new cooler, since the aluminum brick that’s sitting on the K6 right now doesn’t seem to help very much, even with a fast (and noisy) fan.
Sadly, this might actually be one of the best days I’ve had this summer. :P

Guess that's where I'll begin then.
with all this talk of old MOBO'S and old AMD'S I started going threw my shed holding all my old pc part if I can find the one i am looking for it is a ASUS mobo running a AMD at 650mhz with if it is all their 900 meg of ram or maybe a full gig not sure if it still boots we may need to talk about this TMT.
