Well, I've never actually watched EQG 3, but I've heard some people complaining that the supposed "Friendship Games" seems to cause more angry rivalry than anything. However, there's another equally ridiculous sport that managed to teach the protagonist something.

I was being distracted and reading manga, and I was musing on the feats of superhuman strength and speed and how, well, its always a human(oid) of some sort using those abilities. That specific type of super speed and reaction time is rarely seen in mecha, which while sometimes fast, is generally more involved with either giant swords or giant explosions.
