While cities in Equestria tend to be closer than their counterparts in other lands such as Griffinstone and Yakyakistan, everypony knows the best and most luxurious way to travel is by train, and no train is more luxurious than the Canterlot-Manehaten express. The train pulls out of the Manehatten station as you finish putting your bags in your room in the sleeper car and you soon decide to make your way to the dining car for some light refreshments. You're chatting with a few strangers as the train enters a tunnel outside the city. The lights go out for a few moments before someone turns on the lights in the car. Just before they come on, a sound like an insect's wings fluttering is heard and a dim flash of green light is seen. The lights in the car come on moments later, revealing a dead gentlepony sprawled on the floor. Several ponies scream and one stumbles back into the emergency brake, causing the train to jerk and come to a screeching halt in the tunnel. Once everypony has disentangled themselves and the mare who found herself under the gentlepony's body is sufficiently calmed down, the train's intercom is used to inform the driver of what has occured. In the meantime, until help arrives, you'll have to figure out who the changeling is on your own...

Mastergula is found in his room drained of all magic, but nothing else is found when his room is searched. Timelord doesn't seem to be in his room when you check, but someone notices that the bed is closed and seems to be struggling to remain closed. When it's opened, timelord's body flops out, his chitinous exoskeleton squished and covered in blood. On his nightstand, a note is found:

I'm no Royal Guard or Mad Mare. All Timelord and I discussed over PMs was a D&D chess game. If the changelings feel I'm a threat, that's fine by me; just don't kill me off at their direction.
