Question of the Week #70 · 12:04am Sep 6th, 2022
Hello everyone and welcome back to the question of the week and for those of you who partake in the holiday, happy Labor day.
As many of you know, I love Halloween and therefore I also love Nightmare Night. And while I woukd like to maybe write a story in my Neo Somnambula setting involving the holiday, however there a definitely somethings about the holiday that could result in some differences.
For starters in this timeline, Nightmare Moon never returned to Equestria. Also in the city of Neo Somnambula, there are two levels (not including the obelisks) with the lower city having more criminal activity and gangs then the upper city.
So the question is, how do you suppose Nightmare Night might be celebrated in such a setting?
Thank you all for reading this blog and participating in these questions. I hope you all have a good day.
Doing exactly the same thing as show canon is boring.
I’m reminded of a holiday in medieval Europe where the nobles and servants trade roles and clothes for a day. The guards stay the same and ensures nothing gets too out of hand. Mainly, the nobles do public and only mildly humiliating tasks like washing their “masters’” feet, feed them morsels, etc.
The equivalent in Neo Sonambula would be the thestrals putting on the robes of office for all public positions of authority. No permanent changes of policy are made but those in power certainly get a taste of what life is like for the class that is most marginalized and discriminated against the rest of the year.
I think that not much would be done for celebration since the world is kinda fucked and other things are more important. There might be a few offerings to keep away NMM but definitely no celebration.
There might be a completely different thing entirely. Instead of enjoying the night, dressed up in costumes and getting candy, ponies would take part in a big religious ceremony(lots of torches and keys of life included) to keep NMM on the moon. since there might be no bearers of the elements of harmony
Raves! Raves all night baby, Amp up the bass and let the neon lights light up the sky.
Also Nightmare Night was celebrated Before Nightmare Moon's return.
Lower city has a lot more and a lot tastier food. Lighthearted competition abounds.
It’s the one night of the year ponies are out and partying and all dressed up and the story is there’s an unofficial truce that night, but the truth is nopony wants to ruin this night because they’re all out partying and when else are the pretty mares going to dress up like this?
5684314 I certainly do like that idea.
5684302 I know it was celebrated before her return, I just figured that it changed a little bit after her return also. But tes, raves all around.
