On Tuesday, it was my last day of school. My summer holidays are underway. No lessons and very little homework until September.
And oh boy, I've only just realised how utterly exhausted I am.
The routine makes you think that you're not tired. It tricks you into thinking that if you get up at the same time and do the same things at the same time each day, you won't get burnout or become exhausted. And it works, for a while. You learn to cope with the routine, the lack of sleep, the stress. You learn and you don't feel tired.
But the moment the holidays arrive, you're spent. Dead tired. And so, during the short holidays, you don't really have holidays at all.
Thank goodness it's the six weeks' summer break now. Or rather, five weeks and a bit. Yes, they made the summer holiday even shorter this year, but on the flip side we're apparently getting a three week winter break, which I view as a fair compromise.
No more painfully uncomfortable uniform, no more waking up at 6am, no more angry teachers until September.
Now all I have to do is summon the energy to use my time well. And not watch too much YouTube, lol.

Summer break is purely American, I'm afraid.
Good luck with that. I myself have certainly failed.
I must've spent a hundred hours or more on YouTube since my break started two months ago, and written maybe one word per hour spent on YouTube.

Unfortunately, 5674420 is right. They have the power over how long the summer holidays are. I'm trying to tell myself that a shorter summer break in exchange for a longer winter break is worth it, but a part of me still feels screwed over. :/

I myself have made the horrific mistake of discovering a group of YouTubers consisting of Jammiedodger, One Topic At A Time, Human One and The Click. They're hilarious.

At least you have summer break. We finished 10th board exams and a week later I had to go for the FIITJEE batch shuffling test. After that I had regular classes from 8 AM to 5 PM with only a 40 minute lunch and two 10minute short breaks.
Every Saturday is normal school day.
Our bsdk math teacher even told us that we shouldn't expect Sundays to be holidays

Still, you should probably complain about the shorter summer break since this summer is messing shit up in UK. Here in India, one day it rains heavily but I still have to go to school(on a cycle) and thenext day, I have to turn on AC at night while desperately looking for mosquito incense stick just to get at least 5hrs of sleep.
I am planning to just start sleeping in the day and stay awake at night so I don't have to worry about being late to school
