just binged all 12 episodes of blend s in one weekend · 5:58am Jul 5th, 2022
The central protagonist's name is "Maika", by strange coincidence (the girl with the pink background). So everytime they say "Maika-san" it's like they're calling out to me
Maika is unintentionally "sadistic": although she's a kind and happy-go-lucky person, she was born with an unintentionally evil-looking stare that she uses at Cafe Stile to attract customers that have, essentially, a humiliation fetish (It's anime, okay?) This anime was my excuse for not writing this weekend. (And then the weekend after I'm off to Tahoe; another excuse! )
It's kinda similar to how I feel when I write emotionally intense, violent stories on this site, e.g. My Sister Cozy Glow. People here seem to love my sad stories, and I'm best at writing sad stories--but I feel bad sometimes because it makes me seem like a very deep, dark-minded person, even though I'm generally pretty chill in real life! (Although perhaps I'm grasping at esoteric similarities between my fictional internet persona and a homophonically-named fictional anime girl (what has my life come to!))
I also wish I could look as good in a maid dress as Hideri~
Where do you see yourself in 5 years? I'm going to look back at this blog 5 years from now and say "I was so cringe back then"
Also Happy 4th of July I guess, but I hate fireworks, they sound like war bombings to me, so I always stay inside.
Ah, I remember this show, it was very fun.
I’ve been wanting to watch this show since I heard the opening in a meme compilation video and thought it sounded cool.

I have now spent all morning watching the show.

Wonderful!
Hideri (the “surprise” person with the green background) is the most popular character from the show, but interestingly he doesn’t show up till episode 8.

Oh, I know. I made it there. I wanted to see the femboy/easily-able-to-be-read-as-trans character.
Probably going to watch more shortly, too.

I don't think Hideri is trans, just a crossdressing “otokonoko”; he talks about himself using the male pronoun "boku". He's still a style icon, though. Sidebar, it's also interesting linguistically how in Japanese, first-person pronouns are gendered, which allows you to self-identify your gender without having to add "my pronouns are xxxx".
If you're looking for examples of a trans/non-binary character in anime, rather than just an "otokonoko", there's Osana Najimi from Komi Can't Communicate, or Mogumo from the Fukaboku manga (Love Me for Who I Am)...that's all I know of.

Ah, I guess I just don’t understand Japanese. That one’s on me. Sorry.

No need to apologize, I don't understand Japanese either, but you can pick up a few words and phrases from anime.
