Make Your Mark ('n Me— No spoilers) · 9:34am May 26th, 2022
Heya, Folks!
Wow, it's been a month since my last blog— and that was on the first day of BABS. Quite a bit's happened since then. As you can probably tell, I'm gonna touch a bit on Make Your Mark since I'm one of those people that watches something the second it's available (at least on Netflix)—like I said, no spoilers, I promise—but I'll also give a bit of an update on what's goin' on with the Dasher.
I'll do my points on MYM first— overall it was a fun watch. The special is called "Chapter 1: episode 1," so it seems like this isn't going to be a separate special from the actual show, it's more like the two-part season premieres FIM did, just in one solid episode. They'll probably continue the episodes from there in that same Netflix entry, so if it wasn't already basically confirmed, just like Gen 4's subtitle was 'Friendship is Magic,' Gen 5's will be 'Make Your Mark' (at least that's my guess, I could always be wrong).
In order to really keep it spoiler-free, I'll sum up what I saw in one sentence: some pieces of the trailers we saw basically gave away a lot of what happens, and some things that we thought we figured out aren't necessarily what we thought they were. That's really all I'll say in regards to MYM. In terms of what's going on with me…
Well, it's a lot and not a lot. Individual things are a lot in themselves. First thing that happened was that after I got back from BABS, despite getting my booster just before I left, I did inevitably end up catching Covid. However, it was most likely that booster that made me asymptomatic. If I wasn't prompted to test myself by someone I was hanging with at the con who also caught it, I probably never would have even known. But because I'm essentially in constant contact with the hospital due to my other various medical issues, I got the monoclonal antibodies literally two days after I got back my positive test, and I felt fine. Had to isolate myself for ten days, though, so the one 'a lot' (Covid, obviously) caused me to do 'not a lot,' like missing acupuncture, tae kwon do, and the other stuff I do around town.
However, that did allow me to do some work for our favorite piece of bread— I'm going to be finishing editing their original fiction tomorrow, and then I'll hopefully get to the next chapter(s?) of She Drives Me Batty. That's kind of in between 'a lot' and 'not a lot,' BUT…
The real 'a lot' is that I'm going to be closing on my first condo in mid-July; contract is signed and everything. I'm looking into doing renovations and painting, and still figuring out how I'm going to design the rooms; where do I put the furniture I have, am I gonna sell any of it, which furniture do I need to buy, where am I gonna put which pieces of art… And on top of that, there's still a bunch of paperwork to do. Hooray for real estate ownership!
And among all that, I need to have my laptop brought in because my keyboard is a wreck— some keys are stuck, some of the tops are coming off, the spacebar randomly puts in too many spaces… and I'm gonna have to bring it in on a Tuesday since I have D&D on Monday nights online…
It all really puts a damper in my working on A Daughter and her Dragon…
That's all for now. It's 5:30 in the morning here and I never went to sleep because I'm an idiot, so… until next time!

Glad to hear you had a good time at BABS. Also happy to hear that you recovered well from Covid. Sounds like you’ve been the good kind of busy, though and that’s always nice. Take care, Dasher! Hope to see you at EFNW.
Good luck!
