...Reflections in Black and Pink may be slow and inconsistent, but it's not dead. Party Popper isn't going down that easily.
Like many things, writing is an off and on kind of thing for me. I've been getting back into the groove of it recently (with To Stand and Watch the Lake as a byproduct), and about a chapter and a half of Reflections' Canterlot arc have been written. They're longer chapters, too, so about three chapters by the standards of what's already there.
As the story is heading into an arc that requires a bit more actual planning between chapters, however, I'm taking a more arc-based approach to the writing and publishing, as opposed to the chapter-publish-chapter-publish approach I've been doing until now. So it may still be a while before I actually publish these chapters, but when I do I'll hopefully have just about the entire third arc of Reflections ready for you, and then we'll be set to move into the endgame after that.
It's going to be an interesting experiment for me. This style of publishing takes away that instant rush of having finished a chapter and sharing it with the world, but leaves me more opportunities to make the story feel more coherent and polished and allows the publishing to be a consistent sequence once it does happen.
There are definitely pros and cons to both approaches, but I believe this is what's best for the story so long as it doesn't break my motivation to write it. And at this point, Reflections has grown into so much more to me than that silly little idea that sprang into my mind when I wanted to do Camp NaNoWriMo three years ago, so I definitely want to bring it to its conclusion.
It just might take me a while. That's just me.
Thank you for the update. I hope it turns out how you want it.
