Update Blog: Chapter 22 is off to the Editor · 10:33am Apr 4th, 2022

Hey everyone!

So, what does Rego do after he writes a Zecora fic and a fun Sunset Isekai chapter? Instead of riding high on the heels of success, he decides to play two JRPGs back-to-back. Xenoblade I and II. While I had fun with both, the words did suffer since, you know, JRPGs kinda grab you and don't let go. Xenoblade I moreso than Xenoblade II, admittedly. While both are good games, Xenoblade II suffers from gratuitous fan service. I appreciate the female form as much as the next guy, but can Pyra please wear something more substantial than a sci-fi Hooters outfit? Still, I clocked in about 200+ combined hours into both games over the course of March because I am a sucker for Monolith's worlds. Been a fan of theirs since Xenosaga. It's literally why I bought a preowned PS2 so I could play them. That being said... over 200 hours sacrificed to the altar of MonolithSoft...

It's spring break.
My birthday was March 9th so I took some time off.
Umm... other excuses...

Okay, to be honest, I was a little disheartened with a fit of writer's block and wanted to relax with a game. Now I'm back with a chapter that needs to run through the editor before I release it ASAP. I hope you think it was worth the wait and that the other things I wrote in March tided you over. Also, welcome new readers! I hope you enjoy this one as much as you enjoyed The Guard of a Different Stripe if you're one of the new watchers of mine / trackers of Electro Swing. I promise that the JRPGs are out of my system now and we're getting back to your regularly scheduled fic release.

For the sake of clarity, I almost threw this one out and then realized that I wasn't wasting the reader's time with this chapter. Mostly because I forgot about a thing and then remembered the thing, so this chapter helps address the thing and a few other things. Vague, I know, but they're subplots that needed me to breathe some life into a bit. Furthermore, after exploring Athena in Sunset's Isekai, I wanted to do a bit more exploration of Athena, so look forward to that once the editor approves of what I wrote (hopefully). Speaking of other characters, thanks to the reception of a character I didn't know was important, I have suddenly found her more important. Part of it was because people liked her, but also because I discovered something about her as I was brainstorming character interactions and she suddenly burst through the door.

Again, the story needs to simmer a bit before the next major event we're building to. I'm pretty sure everyone caught up with it knows what I'm referring to, but we are setting the stage for it and need a few more things to occur before I can justify the events that will happen there. That's where the writer's block is coming in. I know WHERE I want to go, but god is earning the event troublesome. Anyway, I am hoping the chapter will be done by Wednesday, but it really just depends on when AP has time to look at it. I might be off until next week still, but other folks have lives.

Sidenote: We will probably be permanently sticking to releasing every two weeks. I just got my work schedule for the year, and I am unsure if I will have time to sneak in words between classes. I am being moved to a much larger school and probably won't have much downtime. I am going from having a couple days a week of teaching 26 kids per day with like 5 hours to kill to pretty much everyday teaching 500+ students per day with probably 0 downtime between classes. This year is gonna be a little rougher. No elementary school though, thankfully. While I liked the staff at that school a lot, I work better with older students.

See you all in the next blog!
