Those Who Came Before - News · 1:50am Dec 10th, 2012
Okay then, trusty readers, here's what's happening:
Right now, I'm doing a second round of revisions to fix dialogue attribution and make the story a little more show than tell (Which is what the EqD pre-readers say need to be fixed). After that I'll get back to work on the next chapter.
But first, I'd like to ask if anyone's interested in becoming a scientific adviser for the story. I want to keep the Sci-Fi elements of the story as hard as possible, for plausibility regarding the premise. I would like to clear up that the story itself isn't actually science fiction, although it does use elements from the genre.
Anyway, back to subject: Who's interested in being a scientific adviser for Those Who Came Before? If you are, please PM me - preferably with a little bit of information explaining your qualifications for the 'position'. (After all, I need people who actually know what they're talking about to run ideas by.) It's not an overly taxing position, which mostly involves me running concepts past you to double-check their scientific credibility.
Alrighty, I might as well give this a shot
Alondro seems scientifically inclined. dl.dropbox.com/u/31471793/FiMFiction/emoticons/shrug_Twilight_Sparkle.png
Too bad Imma plant biologist.
I could probably do that for you. First, I need to find the story in my read list, to see what fields of science I shall be dealing with.
This sounds like something that would definitely be of interest to me.
592609 Yeah, and as I recall he and someone else(?) offered, but I thought rather than just run up to them and ask them about it, I'd put out a wider statement first.
I would say that I'd love to take the position, but seeing as how I have no credentials other than a strong love for science and a subscription to New Scientist, it's really up to you to trust me or not.
I'm midway for a degree in geology and oceanography and a class in astrology.
If you ever need any help in those subjects just ask!
Ok, it sounds so far that most of what will be needed will be technology related, though please correct me if I am wrong. This is something I would love to be a consultant for.
Like RayneBowDash, I do not have anything in credentials, but I do have a love of science, (and science fiction) and I am always running little engineering projects for fun inside my head.
I get bored and often look up random information on various scientific discoveries and theories, but I don't think I could be an actual adviser so much as a provider of random esoteric knowledge. For example if you weigh more then 130 lbs./ 59 kg time travels infinitesimally slower for you then it does for me. The argon rich atmosphere would act as a great chemical preservative but with a sufficiently powerful artificial gravity system the vessel/ark/storage tank could have literally distorted time inside to further extend the condition of whatever was contained, although this would be incredibly tricky to use with living things as they tend to be squishy necessitating a highly controlled shift of gravity in small degrees in small areas scattered throughout the target area to accumulate into a collective slowing of time through the whole area. I say things like this at work just to watch the new hires fragile little minds warp.
Depends on what you need to be "reviewed".
I know something regarding computers, their architecture and electronics. Would it help?
Science? At 8:55 pm? Run awaaaaay
I'll do it.
I have a friend that's a PhD in physics, and I'm studying chem at the moment.
looks like im really late to the party but i'm studying computer engineering if that helps
