It's the obligatory new year blog post.

And yes, I am posting this at around midnight on new year. I have a nasty cold, so I decided to disobey nurgle's one command and stay home.

    Just for kicks

I'm mucking around with Lulu for a work-related project (very boring stuff) and thought I would do a quality test with something fun.

Or maybe that comma is in the wrong place. I haven't decided yet.

    The odd things

I've just been reading through old comments on my scraps story, after publishing yet another chunk from the ancient cutting room floor. It's remarkable how many of the commenters are still around - but also how many logged off for the last time, soon after making their last comment there.

    But in brighter news

While I'm not making any promises about any particular project here, I am actually writing again. I figure if I write enough of something, some pony words might drop out somewhere along the line as well. You never know. What I'm working on at the moment is essentially a re-write of a story I read a long time ago; an old pulp sci-fi tale, about a spaceship that manages to get lost in the

A while back I saw the film "Iron Sky" (hilarious, by the way, even if the whole political angle was a bit anvilicious - also, is it just me, or does Silva from Skyfall look a lot like Chris Kirby when his skin had been bleached?)

Okay I lost track there. Damn you parentheses! So I saw Iron Sky, and through that I was introduced to Laibach, who apparently did a lot of the music for the film. Now, I don't like Laibach. They aren't my thing (they are, in fact, very much not my thing) but every artist is capable of producing at least one great work that can be appreciated by those who don't normally find them remotely appealing.

Case in point, Laibach's B Mashina.

It's an interesting one. It tells some sort of a story, but the story is a rather ambiguous. Is it about spaceflight? War? The end of the world? It doesn't really matter all that much, what matters is that it perfectly builds through several layers of plot to the final crescendo.

Can't stand Laibach, but I love this. Funny old world...:pinkiehappy:

I'm the same way. I don't care for most of their songs, but I love that one. One of their covers of Sympathy for the Devil (they did an entire album of that song in different styles) was rather good, too.

THAT, my dear archonix, was quite amazing, if a bit confusing.
