Wow, it's end of the year already...?
Firstly, I wanted to thank everyone who has stuck by me. I know that it seems like I've not posted anything this year. Sometimes things don't always work out like you planned, but I would like to make an attempt to correct that here moving into the New Year. First off, where is Red 36? I have been working on it all throughout the year (Except during November. Things kind of got away from me and I needed a break). If you remember, I said that it's a little difficult to quantify what I've been doing since Ch. 14 is currently on its 5th rewrite and I've been doing most of my own editing.
But the good news is it's finally at a place where I'm relatively happy with the direction this story is going so this will probably end up being the final draft. There's still a little bit to go, and I'm still planning on separating it into part 1 or 2. So when all is said and done, maybe we're looking at 12-14k each as a rough estimation? We'll see. Also, ehehehe....
I spent some time cleaning up the earlier chapters as well. If you're a long time reader, you won't have to worry about losing your place in the story when I post these updated chapters, but I want it to be more approachable and the starting chapters are really hard to ignore imo. The consequences of the early chapters also stack up the further we go along. I keep having to account for weird decisions that were made to correct for problems in the earliest chapters, so I put in the effort to clean those up. Touch up inconsistencies. Cut down word-count. The works. I'm also going to have a new cover that I'll hopefully be able to show off shortly as soon as ch. 14 goes up. Maybe I'll give you a tiny preview before then?
Edit: Something I just noticed on the progress doc: 14 Part 1 is a little misleading. It's titled that way but I haven't split up the docs yet.
"Motel Hell" is nothing of consequence. I tried writing a short story last December but it didn't go anywhere. It kind of read like a Courage the Cowardly Dog episode with some ghoul chefs. It wasn't interesting enough to finish. I would like to start writing side-quest short stories though if I can make some time for it.
I still feel guilty for not posting any big updates this year, so I asked the artist of the Red 36 comic Raph13th and he said it was cool for me to post these two preliminary sketches as previews. Check em out:

Thanks so much for your continued interest in my project and I hope you'll stick with me a while longer. Trust me, even though this year was hard, I am way too stubborn to give up on it. Sometimes I really wish I could be like those people who post every month and churn out words like a machine, but I have a good feeling about 2022, and I promise you won't have to wait for too much longer. Wishing you the best in the coming year.

Thanks for the updates EL-Dee, I look forward to what you have coming up and have been waiting patiently. As a fellow writer, I understand what you are going through on that end. I think the side stories idea is a great one and look forward to them as wells.

For side stories I still kind of want to finish up Enclave Academy. I have a few others in mind as well. It might be a good idea to just set one month aside and work on a side story after I'm done with this update. Cheers! Hope you have a Happy New Year too.
