Well, when I haven't been writing or working, I've been slowly making my way through Terminator Resistance, after hearing too many good things.
IGN scored it a 4/10, while Steam users have it currently rated at a 92/100. That's quite the disparity.
Frankly, I can understand some of IGN's criticisms, but nowhere near enough to put it all the way down to a 4/10. True, the gameplay is nothing groundbreaking.
The story and music, however, puts 18 years of Hollywood's efforts to absolute shame. Especially the music, holy hell. It's not ripped straight from the films, but this composer stays insanely faithful to Brad Fiedel's iconic melodies.
Put bluntly, if you loved Terminators 1 and 2, and believe the franchise has been doing unsightly things to the bed since then, do yourself a favor and play this game. Don't wait for a sale, either. These guys deserve full price ($39.99) for how small their team is.
Looking forward to whatever DLC details are coming in November.

With the kind of coverage game journos have gotten in recent months, I say fuck 'em. The "professionals" can't play anything more difficult than easy mode, and are more concerned with inclusiveness and representation than they are about controls, mechanics, gameplay, story, or anything else that goes into making a game good.
Fuck 'em. Let them get a job that involves wearing jumpsuits and scraping roadkill off the pavement with a spatula.
Yeah, the game was a really well done Terminator experience, showing just how tough these hunter-killers are

I recall that one ! Just... came out of nowhere one day and I thought "Eh, 30 bucks (steam had a launch promo), let's try". Didn't saw IGN or whatever. Bucks well spent. And when that update where you play the terminator came out, oh boy was it fun !

And they've confirmed that the next game they're working on is RoboCop. Based on what they've done with the Terminator universe, I can't freaking wait.
