. . . But I was curious.
Looking at the chapter count, Three-act Play seems very lopsided. Acts I and II are seven chapters each, but Act III is only three chapters. Going by word count, though, things look a little different—Act I is 14,416 words, Act II is 20,823 words, and Act III is 10,965 words. Act II is notably longer than the others, but I and III are more similar in length than one might expect. Also, the average word count per chapter is 2718, which is significantly larger than any of my other stories.
Why did I bother? Because Three-act Play turned out very differently from my previous stories, and not just in content. I was curious what impact that had on the structure of the story as well.
