New Movie (Spoilers) · 6:46am Oct 1st, 2021
So, I finally watched it. I think I enjoyed most of it. My thoughts were scattered all over the place. Don't get me wrong, it was entertaining and the music was top-notch, but... I can't help but feel that most of the characters were just... dumb. Not dumb in the sense of their design, I love their designs... just they all made very dumb decisions, like, all the time. I had to suspend my disbelief a lot. It wasn't overly irritating, but it reminded me of some of the more poor FiM episodes where a usually sound and intelligent character starts making mistakes for the sake of the plot. I dunno.
So, its a dumbed down version of G4, despite being set in the same universe instead of creating new conflicts with the new enviroment and characters they undid all progress the world had till the G4 finale, is that it? (kinda mixed in some info i had from other sources)

Not dumbed down, just not enough there to really say. The pacing was quite fast and we really need the show to gauge if this is on par for G4 or not. Overall, I'd say it's well worth a watch.
Welp we'll see what the series will be like and I'm hopeful
Ah, interesting; I don't recall getting that impression at all. I believe someone did say something, I think in fact in a comment on my own blog about the film, about different people seeing different things in the movie.
In any case, I'm glad you at least enjoyed most of it, though. :)

Well, regarding things being undone, I will say (slight spoiler) that, at least in the film itself, we don't even see (that I noticed) how long it's been since things started falling apart, much less since the end of G4. I don't think, say, Princess Twilight Sparkle reigning over a utopia for a hundred thousand years before things even started to decline is ruled out. Of course, the show may give more information one way or another, but for now, neither we nor our protagonists know what went wrong.

There is definitely a lot of potential, I think, and aye, I'm also still pretty optimistic about this (if also still somewhat cautiously).

Interesting, if the movie was a stand alone id be more willing to give it a pass, but Hasbro decided to tie it to G4, marketing am i right, as so the absence of explanation makes it jarring for me, Spoiler Alert: 3...2...1... People claim to have seen the mind wiping stone in some point in the movie so theories are running wild, honestly i believe if the movie had gone with a peace was taken, now they gotta restore it, i think ot would have worked better as a follow up to the previous... eh such is life, cant do much about it.

Eh, to each their own; I'm sorry this doesn't work well for you, though.

Honestly, at this point i like the fandom more than the show itself, the inifnite creative so many authors have and the lack of restrictions allows the creation of stories that, by varieng degrees, would work well for the show.
Movie was fun but forgettable. Looked good, but the 3d will take getting used to. Songs weren't really any good apart from the Offspring cover and the Unicorn song. At least parts of them. Like why was every song at least three different songs mashed together?
Biggest gripe was that everyone acted like they were 10 while pretending to be adults. Really dumbed down compared to the more adult characters from G4. Now everyone was on Pinkie's level.
Villain was awful, forced and contrived. Hitch was around just to show how empowered girls can DO IT, but had enough endearing moments that I don't really mind. Pipp was... around? The voicework was good, especially Izzy's singing voice. The ending was pretty nice with the picture frame instead of crystals. Mixed bad, but overall I'm happy I watched it.

Oh, I also engage much more with fan content than official content, I think, yes.
5590244
YES! YES! That's how I sort of felt: they all acted like they were ten It's not like they were dumb, then, just super immature?

I'm still happy I watched it, too. It gives me hope for the future of ponies, even if it wasn't some masterpiece.
...Also, you still have me blocked. And, again, I am sorry for the joke.

I still look forward to what Hasbro can bring us, but I am totally into more fan content; I read stories here constantly and that's never stopped in my nine years of being here. Honestly, the fact that plenty of us bronies are still here, still writing stuff (or other creators making little films and comics and art and plushies... etc...), fills me with so much hope for the future, and really... it just makes me smile.

Me too!
