Regarding "My Little Pony: A New Generation" · 4:30pm Sep 24th, 2021

I'm expecting this to be a short-lived flop. Leaks have revealed they're doubling down on everything that went wrong with G4, and official announcements have made it clear they're all in on the woke stupidity.

Of course, I can't see them admitting that since Netflix makes it easy to hide the real performance numbers and they may be able to get them to manipulate the official ratings as well, but they'll know it's a flop and presumably abandon G5 in short order.

Combine that with the fact that the discontinuity will help break some rabid fanboys out of their cognitive dissonance and see it for the mess it is, and you have a recipe for a solid crash and burn.

Mark my words, it won't do nearly as well, and people will be begging to have G4 back. Why? Because there is no way in hell G5 will be given 9 seasons. It’ll get the usual 3 and call it a day. Replicating the runaway early success and influence of G4 is nigh impossible.

But while that's obviously impossible with the current staff, it is possible to build a future MLP franchise that recaptures G4's success. The key is artistic integrity, passion, and a dedicated team just like it was for G4 under Faust.

Honestly, died in late season 2 when Lauren Faust left.

5586202 If you say so.

Damn straight. G4 forever! Perfection cannot be replaced.

5586240 :rainbowlaugh: G4 wasn't anywhere close to perfection.

5586241
It is, because G4 ponies look more fuckable. :rainbowkiss:

5586243 You sure about that? :rainbowhuh: Seriously, this was my favorite part of the entire movie! :pinkiehappy: I will never get tired of seeing this!

Yeah, but saying anything negative about G5 means you're an alt-right nazi brony that hates anything not G4. I know this, because I've read the Equestria Daily comments sections.

5586258
Where did you watch the full movie, by the way? I cannot find it.

5586369
It's on Netflix.

Also, I know "If you're gonna steal, steal from the best" but did they ACTUALLY have to steal the villain song from goddamn OFFSPRING? Other than that, it was a fun movie. Not perfect by any stretch, especially the forced villain was dumb, but I don't regreet watching it.

5586398 The villain song was stolen? And, yeah, I do agree that the villain was forced and cliche beyond belief. Worst still, he wasn't punished for what he did. And is it just me or am I the only one who was reminded of Bellwether from Zootopia because to Phyllis?

That's wrong think. :twilightblush:

It's a mishmash of that and some other songs.

Oh, good. I'm not the only one who didn't like this movie.

I certainly hope so. The one reason I left the Generation 5 group was because, rather than everyone expressing their disappointment, they were singing praises for the movie even though it is a mess. I won't deny it has its good moments but the negatives outweigh the positives.

You see, I've seen a similar situation happen with the Star Wars sequel trilogy. Nearly everyone liked Star Wars: The Force Awakens with the few that didn't pointing out it was a rehash of A New Hope. Then The Last Jedi happened, which created a larger split between those that did like it (critics especially) and those that didn't. And the less said about The Rise of Skywalker, the better. Combine that with the reveal that there was no overarching plan for the trilogy, and suddenly the entire Sequel Trilogy is reviled.

So let's hope the G5 series is crap enough for those that like the movie to come to their senses.

I believe I said something to this effect in what I believe was a state of mild displeasure in the midst of a very long-winded rant on the series finale.

Here's hoping that G5 alienates all of your hardcore fans. :pinkiehappy:

As someone who's also prone to angry ranting, I would not call that "mild". :rainbowlaugh:

5596071 :rainbowlaugh: I was being sarcastic.

They're bronies. Them mindlessly praising this shit solely because it bears the title "My Little Pony" is to be expected. They've been doing it since the start of G4 and continued to do it even when the series ended.

I won't deny it has its good moments but the negatives outweigh the positives.

What negatives of the film did you notice? What was wrong with it? What did you not like? :rainbowhuh:

I know.

Let's see. The plot is predictable, the main cast (with the exception of Hitch) are essentially copies of the Mane Six, it's not really subtle about its "racism bad" message, Sunny turns into an alicorn at the end and I find the reason for the magic disappearing to be baloney considering this movie is supposed to be in the same universe as G4 and yet, rather than have all of Equestria be frozen solid by the Windigoes, the prejudice of the pony tribes made the magic disappear.

Oh, and speaking of Sunny turning into an alicorn, it was not subtle about it every time that particular moment was foreshadowed in the movie. I get that it's supposed to be for kids and we know most kids are morons but come on!

They're bronies. Them mindlessly praising this shit solely because it bears the title "My Little Pony" is to be expected

Sadly, that makes too much sense. I ought to know, I saw someone saying they "switched" their brain off while watching the movie and I was thinking to myself "mate, if you have to switch your brain off to enjoy the movie, then it ain't a good movie. At best, it would be mediocre." :rainbowlaugh:
