Well, you saw it here folks, the epic tory that took over a year (Dec. 2, 2011 - Dec. 5 2012) to write has been completed.
"Applejoy" has been marked complete. (Much to my relief).
Through the course of writing this story, I feel as though I've learned a lot. I can't help but think that working on one project throughout the course of over a full year has significantly improved my writing, and I've also learned something crucial about story-telling. If you're going to write a story, make sure the titular character (i.e. "Applejoy") is actually old and/or flexible enough to encounter some character development. Unfortunately for me, I found it nigh impossible to actually take a character the equivalent age of a toddler and actually craft a feasible story around them. Eventually, with no room to develop her character, Applejoy was relegated to a role secondary to her mothers and other characters.
In fact, that's a fairly frequent complaint I've received - that Applejoy (cute, sweet little Applejoy) essentially became a background character.
Well, lesson learned. The next time any of you read of Applejoy, she'll be nice and grown-up, and I can focus on developing her character beyond smiling, giggling, and overall being cute.
Wait, what was that? Did BronyNeumo just say he's planning to continue the story of Applejoy?
Well, yes. To the delight of many and the dismay of I'm sure some, I am planning yet another sequel in this seemingly never-ending series. You're welcome. Or, I'm sorry. Take your pick.
Anyway, look for a new story by me, to be entitled "To Be Mothers", to premiere right after I'm done writing Shattered, or possibly this summer if I'm not done by then. Whichever comes first.
Until then, Applejoy will live on in this story, and in fanart. (Do you hear me? Make fanart. MAKE FANART! Or Applejoy dies)

I love how you mix romance, feel good cuteness, and suspense/danger, all in the same series.

I think you should write more heart wrenching stuff like Shattered. It's become one of my all time favorites. It just has so much power, and I can't get enough. No other story has brought me to the edge of my emotions like that one. It's honestly been one of my biggest inspirations as a grim writer. I've never been able to capture character emotion like I wanted till I saw how you did it.
Anyways, that's just my 2 cents on what you should do. I'm sure Applejoy is more important to you, so write what you enjoy. I think that's what makes truly great works.

...DAMN IT. Somehow, in all my remembrance of tracking stories, I forgot to track that one!
After this site removed Read/Unread search option in filters. Guess I've got something to try and remember to do in the future. And I guess re-read... *groans* well, looking forward to more of Shattered soon! Such a sad but well-crafted tale about a dark and emotionally-scarring subject.

I'm waiting for some "Shattered" though. I'd even call it the best fic on fimfiction or at least top 10. I can hardly wait for the next chapter but take your time. Make is as great as you want it to be.

I was on the verge of tears till i read this and learned that applejoy was to continue. Now i'm ecstatic and cant wait till summer
