Okay, I'm about to say something that I feel a little divided on; I don't see G5 in the same universe as G4. I just don't.
With all the hard work that the characters put into the Equestria we knew and love, to have that all of that taken away just like that, just doesn't feel right. All of the ponies being divided is also something that grinds my gears is because the last two seasons of the show made such a big deal of all of the different kingdoms coming together, griffons, hippogriffs, changelings, dragons, yaks, and ponies.
Now it seems that we're back to just ponies. I know the show is called My Little Pony, but still, if you're going to make a big deal about something you can't just forget about it. This especially makes me angry because the characters like the Young Six had so much potential and the ending in the Last Problem might not have been flawless but at least it brought our characters' story to a nice close.
I don't see why they couldn't just make a new Equestria, one that isn't related to G4 in any way. I know there's a likely hood that some of the older characters might show up in the new show, but I honestly don't see them being in the same universe just for how different they seem. To make my blood not boil, I don't consider G5 and G4 in the same timeline.
I actually agree with you
I also wish it wasn't, but it is. Well, at least we can ignore it.
I don’t consider G5 to be part of the same universe as G4 either.
I mean, seriously. The animation style of the upcoming series is vastly different from its predecessor in every way, so how can it possibly be a continuation?
Not to mention that there’s still the matter of the windigoes. If the tribes are all split up again, then why aren’t the windigoes putting Equestria in eternal winter?

That would be the one thing that makes it feel like it's a different universe. If there's ever an even in G5 that contradicts something in G4, that'll probably support this.

Model era and CGI Thomas the Tank Engine look vastly different and are part of the same timeline. To say two shows cannot be narratively connected because they have different animation styles is nonsense.
As for the Windigoes-what if Twilight or another alicorn sealed them away, Pony of Shadows style?

The windigoes only appeared before because the tribes were in active conflict with each other and were always at each other’s throats. In the case of Gen 5 the three tribes are not in conflict with each other but instead just keep to themselves and any interactions that do occur seems to spark fear rather than hatred.
Well we will not know until the movie comes out basically we're just speculating what to expect but to my thought it's still the future friendship is Magic because given the screenshot of the Mane 6 it has to be from the future but again will find out once the movie comes out

The two of you aren’t the first people to tell me that. However, it hardly helps things get any clearer for me.
But if I recall correctly, windigoes not only feed on hatred and anger, but fear and prejudice too. So how could they not be in the mix with G5?
Plus, I honestly think that animation does matter. Thomas the tank engine was an entirely different matter because the computer animation was much more faithful to the stop-motion model style, whereas the upcoming fifth generation’s style of animation isn’t faithful to G4’s in the slightest.

Like I said, the three tribes keep to themselves and don’t usually interact so there isn’t constant negativity like there was last time.

Well, it’s a plot hole nonetheless. I’m pretty sure there’d be negativity amongst the three races even if they don’t interact.

1. The Wendigos cannot feed on anything if they are sealed away, just as the Dazzlings cannot feed on negative emotions without their pendants? Also, why wouldn't you seal them away? It's a no-brainer.
2. What has that got to do with anything?
