    Status Update

Hello everyone, or everyone still around. I know I've spoken up in blog posts a few times recently, but I felt like making up a proper status update for where I am writing-wise.

So I got to see the eclipse yesterday...

My family went on an all-day pilgrimage through the state to get to a good spot to watch it. Really cool to see happen. I'm gonna be in my 40's when it happens again. Maybe I'll have some actually published original stories out by then xD

Musings on Light and Dark, Good and Evil · 2:17am May 18th, 2021

Took a late night walk with some family members, and it reminded me of a discussion I had with them a month or so ago.

We have a habit of associating things like good and evil with light and dark. I don't think I need to elaborate on which is which. I think a large part of it has to do with our status as primarily diurnal creatures. Day and light are open and familiar to us; darkness, by contrast, limits our field of view, and leaves us more vulnerable to danger.

But what of the possibility of intelligent beings who are not diurnal like we are? Let's suppose for a moment that somewhere out there amongst the many galaxies and stars and exoplanets that there's a race of sapient creatures who are primarily nocturnal, or generally more suited for darker environments than we are.

So how would their outlooks and associations with good and evil be shaped by their experiences with light and dark? Would an abundance of light be treated as a symbol of excess, and darkness of moderation? Who knows?

Just some random thoughts from an aspiring writer, I guess...

Interesting speculation, for sure. I like the thought, and it is an interesting one for sure.
