An honour killing society is a total mess. Everyone becomes dirt poor, due to all the rich people packing their bags and fleeing to the hills. It basically like anarchy. The Walking Dead is a cool show, but I don't want random killing each other, minus the zombies.
My (perhaps unwelcome) opinion: People should stop getting worked up preemptively. His ties to the fandom got a short mention in one news article, and after a full day it hasn't blown up, which in our modern attention-deficit society means it's already a distant memory. There's generally only one headline for any particular mass shooter, and this guy's headline is that the FBI spoke to him last year because his mother was worried he would commit "suicide by police". (Which, by the way, fits well with reports that there was no obvious motive or particular target to his attack. He wasn't an extremist of any sort, he was just straight up done with the world, so no chance of extremism echoing back to the fandom either.)
The world is bad enough without getting all excited over problems that haven't happened yet. If it gets big, then we can fret about it, but not before.
