Still around (kinda)

Haven't made any blog on the new year, time to change that.

I'm not gone or anything like that, I still lurk around here occasionally. I've really just been enjoying a bit of a break since I'm not actively publishing anything right now. Work on the epilogue story that is kind of a sequel to Rage is still in works, I just am writing a bit slower than usual since I've also been hacking away at my own original work, doing much needed 25 years overdue changes to this and that in it.

Let me tell you when you go over things you established back when you were pre-teen and early teen, you really have a bad case of "wow did I really write that, what was I thinking?" Yet I stubbornly kept those for a variety of reasons, one, of course, is simply familiarity. You just gotten so used to it that you don't see that it needs to change. One of which was names of my alien characters, some which although do reflect the language I created for them, don't translate well to human eyes. My editor had a run in with a draft I made of story I was thinking about doing where some of these characters do meet the ponies, aaand let's just say the results were interesting.

I don't write one-shots as much as I used to do I'm afraid, or otherwise I would probably have more stories to offer. I've considered doing more but nothing really comes to me. I have to admit, lately I've been more interested in writing about my original creations than canon characters of the mlp universe, which kind of defeats the purpose of fan fiction. After all, people come here to read fan interpretation of the show characters and right now I'm just coming up empty with ideas for them, I've looked up writing prompts and ideas but none of them really call to me, I never get "oh I must write that" kind of feeling towards them.

So currently there are only two stories that are planned and in works, Sequel to Temor and of course that epilogue story for Rage.

Things are also changing in my employment. I'm taking over as foreman of the nightshift, that shouldn't change things drastically around here at all, but definitely a sign I'm doing well at my current workplace.

Regarding the upcoming Gen5 movie and show. I'm cautiously optimistic about it, I won't have really anything to say until the final product is out and I've actually watched it. I'm somewhat disappointed with the whole, three tribes now separated, I'm currently still recovering from the disaster that was Star Trek Discovery season 3 where not a dissimilar premise was going on and I have to admit I'm never too much of a fan of society fallen apart storylines, but you never know they might do it better than Discovery did. Also not too thrilled that it's going to be in 3d and not 2d animation form. I always enjoyed FIM being 2d animation in an already oversaturated market of 3d animation. I don't know, maybe I'm getting too old-fashioned.
