A Worrying Realisation About The Rumoured G5 Characters · 8:00am Feb 24th, 2021
OK, so some new bedding was spotted on Jerry Fabrics that was licensed by MLP (source here) and a lot of ponies think these are the first pictures of our new main cast. The problem is, I realised something that could make or break G5.
First of all, remember that (now-believed-to-be-fake) character design sheet of the Mane 6?
Look at that, and then take a look at the characters on the new bedding:
The reason I'm worried is because the characters on that bedding bear certain unmissable resemblances to the character design sheet. More detailed manes, wings, unicorn horns, and feathers on the hooves. Unicorn horns and pegasus wings that are a different colour to the rest of the coat. A more liberal use of gradients. And why does that make me panic, some of you may ask?
Because Twilight might be an Earth Pony.
There's also a leaked storyboard animatic (which I haven't got a link for) over on YouTube, showing a filly and her father meeting the Mane 6. I believe Twilight is shown as an alicorn there, so we might be safe, but I like Alicorn Twilight. Hmm, food for thought. I'm trying my hardest not to be nervous and I'm trying to tell everypony else to stay calm, but I can't help it. And also, what's going to happen to Equestria Girls once G5 is released? Will that world change as well? How? Will we actually recognise either world in the Ponyverse after G5?

I worry about the designs too, though for all the different reasons...
I may be paranoid, but seeing eyes "cut off", so to say, at the bottom, and much rounder and more consistent heads... I worry it will not be beneficial for these characters as far as emoting goes.
You know, I think their muzzles just look a bit too flat to me. I'd love to see a shot from the side, like from that leaked animatic earlier. And it did leave a nice impression there, even if it was... naturally... rather barebones yet...
I don't know... we'll see, I guess. The leaked backstory does seem (possibly) promising...

I'm a lot happier about the designs now. In the picture of Sunny's bedroom there were figurines of the Mane 6, and Twilight was an alicorn. Plus, the 3D animation is awesome. As much as G4 had some beautiful animation, seeing everything in 3D is a welcome change.
