maybe in a world of odd people and odd things, I'm not so odd after all. But who knows. (they/them)

MLP Movie News! · 11:58am Jan 30th, 2021

According to this article at Equestria Daily, they're keeping Equestria. They aren't starting from scratch, but jumping forwards a few years. The protagonist is an "activist," which has me curious but also a little worried. Why are there activists in Equestria? Did something go wrong? Will they still have the Fire of Friendship in their hearts and look up to the Mane 6 and Royal Sisters? The good thing is, there's going to be Easter Eggs galore.

BRING ON THE PONIES!

Edit: the original article by Kidscreen can be found here, and explains it in a bit more detail.

Whoaaaa!

Well, as a worldbuilder by heart, that does very much make me happy... but also worried.
The activist being there is actually optimistic for me, since it may suggest the world being developed far more deeply... which would align with some if those leaks years ago, suggesting than Gen5 will be targeted at a slightly older demographic; I'm thinking the Avatar: The Last Airbender level of maturity...? Overall maturity that is, since both it and MLP could reach... quite some levels of darkness at times, as we all know...

But anyway, I'm worried that they might screw it up... I love Equestria, well... I love Equis, this whole world... and I know that while changing how a world feels a bit does not have to destroy its appeal, there are tons of ways that can happen... so... you know... I do worry about that...

And, and I do kind of hope the time skip will be bigger rather than smaller... honestly... that's just personal taste, though, of course.

The fandom will split anyway, which... is sad, but I guess it's also unavoidable, in a way...

Oh, and... well, I myself am a,so not that big of a fan of Twilight's ascensionnto rulerhood, so... we'll see how quickly that ceases to irritate me. :twilightblush:

Or perhaps just a wider age demographic, so still ok for really little kids, but also more to the taste to the teens and adults who watch too. Although, you are right in saying that FiM can get really dark at times. The Storm King's death genuinely shocked me when I saw it for the first time.

I'm worried that they might screw it up

Me? As excited as I am, in the words of Pinkie Pie, I'm nervouscited. They could screw up in SO many ways.

I do kind of hope the time skip will be bigger rather than smaller

My prediction is that Luster Dawn might be the main character. How she goes from the friendship-is-a-waste-of-time-pony to an activist, I don't really know. I'm just thinking along the lines of what happened in FiM.

The fandom will split anyway, which... is sad, but I guess it's also unavoidable, in a way...

Well, there's always going to be one thing that divides opinions. My hope is that things don't get too political.

I myself am a,so not that big of a fan of Twilight's ascension to rulerhood, so... we'll see how quickly that ceases to irritate me.

I am still not sure how I feel about that, even after so long, but I trust Hasbro to get it right. Headcanon says that the Mane 6 become immortal, either because they all become alicorns, their connection to the Elements of Harmony does something to make them all young again, or a certain draconequus decides he can't live without Fluttershy and does some weird chaos magic thing to ensure they all have a much longer life span. Wait, since Discord is immortal, he'll probably be in G5. Oh, boy...

I saw this yesterday, and it was NOT what I had expected.

I am assuming that MLP would go this way given recent events, but even still, activism isn't something I would really want to see in an animated cartoon show. Personally I feel like it would make it worse, and I'm nervous as to how this will turn out.

But hey, at least MLP isn't dying. That's a good thing. I'm just uncertain as to whether or not I like the new direction.

I think we have to wait and see before we judge. I'm going to watch it, regardless of what the trailers and new toys are like, and hopefully we'll get to see it in cinemas. Hopefully...

5444642
Lol I probably wouldn't go to the cinema to see it, but I am interested nonetheless. I'm hoping I'll find it enjoyable, though I admit if there's lore I won't understand it, what with me being at the beginning of the show. So....yeah.

Right, there's 9 months until October, 9 seasons, 8 of which have about 26 episodes per season (that's 208 episodes) and 1 with 13 episodes, bringing our total to (this is an estimate) 221 episodes. You have until the release date of the G5 movie (if it's released on October the 1st, say, that's 243 days) to watch every single episode of FiM and maybe some of EqG. Not compulsory, but if you watched 1 episode a night you'd be able to complete the whole series in time. Anypony who does this gets head pats. :rainbowlaugh:

5444655
I doubt I'd be able to, but since it's been a while I started from scratch. I watched S1 E1 last night😅

5444657
One episode a night. You could watch more, of course. I reckon you could do it.

5444661
Yeah, gonna watch S1 E2 tonight. As a brony focused more on the fandom than the show itself(sorry!) it's a bit awkward for me. Honestly the only thing I have a problem with is the theme.

5444758
Oh goody. To be honest, I probably focus on the fandom more than the show too, and there's bound to be tons of other ponies who do exactly the same. The Ponynet is such a large and exciting place that looking at it saps the time we would ordinarily spend watching FiM.

5444762
Wow, didn't no so many others did the same. How many of y'all find it hard sitting through the theme song?

5444771
I'm OK with the theme song. Throughout my childhood, I have heard some that are TERRIBLE. *hears really rubbish pop music signalling the start of an equally rubbish kids' show playing in the background* No. NO. I'm off!

5445033
I think it's cringe, but that's just me.

5445036
I have a near-hatred for a lot of modern music. I know what cringe sounds like. *sticks on headphones and starts listening to this guy playing piano* That's a lot better

5445041
Hah, I have to agree with you there... though it largely depends on what piece of modern music is being considered for me. :rainbowwild:

5445770
Same. I usually don't get on with anything from after the early 2000's, but there's quite a lot of genres I like. Classical, rock, folk, even metal, tons of stuff. But being a musician, I tend to have a preference for songs that are a bit more difficult to play.
