The hardest part about writing is that nothing you make is ever as good on the page as it was inside your head... but other people don't know that, so we worry over nothing.

    Jinglemas 2022

Hello. Been a while. So I signed up for this thing, as a way to get back to writing. There's still a bit of time left for the .5 of you who bother reading these posts but somehow aren't aware of one of the bigger site-wide events to sign up for it. Happy holidays!

I LIVE!!!! (and so does this thing...)

I'm not here to give another life update. Suffice to say, I've about given up on keeping myself "together". I'll try and get stories out, but I make no promises about when or what or anything.

But, for those who still care:
Beanis is back! Remember the beans? Majin does. Go give him the usual love/hate.

Only a couple hours to go (for me)

    So. 2020 is almost over.

This... certainly has been a year. Lots of bad things happened. Lots of bad things are going to continue happening.

I don't want to dwell on it.

Instead, I'd like to take the time to reflect on some of the good things that I experienced this year. In no particular order.

    Smol Update

December is here, the stores are playing Silver Bells, and this site's Jinglemas 2020 event has officially started.

I've gotten my prompt and made my outline. I just need to buckle down and write the thing.

Only a couple hours to go (for me) · 2:56am Jan 1st, 2021

So. 2020 is almost over.

This... certainly has been a year. Lots of bad things happened. Lots of bad things are going to continue happening.

I don't want to dwell on it.

Instead, I'd like to take the time to reflect on some of the good things that I experienced this year. In no particular order.

Marvel's Agents of SHIELD, one of my favorite TV shows, ended. But it was probably the best ending that I could've asked for, one that left open the possibility of more stories if anyone chose to write them, including the fans. And one that put together all of the pieces from previous seasons and previous shows to make something truly special.

I finished writing BEANSLAYERS. My final contribution to the Beanis Cinematic Universe. I spent so long making it and ended up learning a lot in the process. Stuff that I applied to my second fic of the year:

I participated in the site's Jinglemas event, and actually wrote a thing! It turned out pretty great despite some road bumps, and got approval from the requester, a fairly prolific author.

I maybe buried the lead, but... I managed to move out of my mother's house and finally gain independence. I've never been sure what to make of my relationship with her- were we codependent? Was she a shitty person? Was I a shitty person? All of the above? Or maybe she was just a traumatized individual doing her best to be a parent to a kid who has a lot of mental health issues and neither one of us would be our best selves while living together.
No matter what, I've done pretty well for myself since moving out. The first place I moved into had some... pest problems. But I've since found somewhere better.

I finally started working with a therapist who has been able to help me. Progress has been slow but steady.

Oh! I got my desktop computer! Can't forget that.

Let's see... Media speed round:
The Sonic movie was actually a lot of fun and I want a sequel.
The ending of She Ra and the Princesses of Power- which shouldn't be the ending. Season 6/movie when?
Finally watched all of Avatar The Last Air Bender, now halfway through Legend of Korra and loving it.
Clone Wars Season 7, Harley Quinn Season 2, Doom Patrol Season 2, Stargirl, The Boys Season 2, and I'm pretty sure I forgot a couple. A great year for shows on streaming services.
I started watching RWBY. I'm about halfway into Volume 4, so I'll be all caught up in time for the Volume 9 release... whenever that turns out to be.

Some actually good Transformers figures came out this year. I even bought a few. First time in ages. Even more good stuff coming in 2021 on that front.

I started playing Magic: The Gathering in 2019, but I only got really into it this year. The Ikoria set really helped me. And I've just found a new way to play (thank you FanOfMostEverything and FlutterPriest for that). Also, 2021 is starting off with a set based on Norse Mythology, aka my favorite mythology. I'm super stoked.

I'll finish off with saying that I've learned a lot at my job. I could probably put a new roof onto a house all by myself if I had to. I could also probably put new siding on one. I'd need help, but I also know how to build a deck/porch. I learned how to pour concrete. I learned how to use metal to trim windows and doors and facia. I can install flooring, put up drywall, tape and mud the seams, and possibly even paint everything. I might- if push comes to shove- be able to install windows and doors. The only way for me to truly advance further right now is to get my driver's license... which I'm working on.

Anyway. Hope everyone had the best 2020 they could manage, and I hope 2021 does end up being even better for us all!
