Should I parody current events? Politics and stuff like that.
Or should I stay out of it? Stick to magical horse land or whatever. I somewhat care if I'm going to annoy my followers on this particular issue. I don't know if you would appreciate me breaking your escapism, even if it's a silly story.
I have a trollfic-like story planned if I proceed with parodying current events. It intends to mock everyone to some degree.
No, entertainment should be an escape and break from the bullshit in our lives. Not constantly bringing it up, if I wanted anything even remotely political I'd watch the news.
Get woke, go broke. The things currently happening are changing so much on their own that they become their own parodies, briefly, and then continue on. I'd say to hold off on parodies for a month or two.

I would avoid it. It dates the story instantly, and just invites a bunch of unnecessary drama.

I wouldn't mind fake politics so long as it's a neutral stance on things there's no right or wrong side and not a lecture.
