In Welcome to Distopia, is everyone following along with all the Persona stuff? We're trying to explain things gradually.
Buuuuuut, just in case. So far we've established.
1. Celestia adopted Goro Akechi.
2. Akechi, despite being royalty, still solves cases (Herd and Domestic abuse cases), hence the title Detective Prince.
3. Shadows (monsters made from shadow magic) are escaping the dream realm and attacking ponies.
4. The dream realm and physical realm are slowly merging together with areas called Lairs popping up.
5. Lorraine and John are the only ones able to enter these lairs and solve the problem.
6. Other Persona 5 Royal characters exist in the world of the story but they're all off working elsewhere, or aren't needed to save the world.
Dragon's going to keep an eye out for comments here and in the fic so she can help explain things.

I'm the one who's pretty much in charge of the Persona plotline for Welcome to Distopia, every bit of exposition in Throw Away Your Mask was written by me and I wanted to make sure it made sense without knowledge from the games.
