A: Have the death be an anonymous pony that points to crazy shit going down in Ponyville due to the body being all fucked up and shit
Or should I:

B would certainly give characters a better motive and the audience would remember the pony in question that would be murdered. If A were to happen, people would most likely forget within a few chapters.
