I don't know what to call this blog, so just come take a peek · 3:25pm Aug 9th, 2020
So. Let's talk about Nazis.
It's gotten pretty bad lately. Feels like everywhere I turn, there's a proud Nazi. Or pedophile. Or, frankly, any number of other things that make me wanna curl up into a ball and disappear off the internet forever.
It's especially hard for creators, because we are so often drowned out by those creating purposefully abhorrent and shocking content. I'm sure all of us can point to a major fanwork (or multiple) around here that only gets talked about because it's infamous for its genuinely horrific content.
There's no easy solution. Sites like ao3 and fimfiction can't afford to get into the nitty-gritty on what is allowed and what is not. Fanfictions openly glorifying rape and pedophilia get uploaded daily, and infect every fandom... not just mlp.
But today, I finally get to tell you all about a new online community that will hopefully start a new era of fan spaces.
Offprint is a new website, built entirely by fanfic authors, which hopes to present a more positive community.
The site is currently in closed alpha, with only about 100 authors able to post.
You can, however, go and browse some of the wonderful exclusive fan content posted here, and you can even join the Offprint discord to talk about the site's development!! As an extra incentive to come get involved, I am posting multiple exclusive works to Offprint (including a new horror fic and a total overhaul of Hearts Beat). If you're interested in reading fics for Supernatural, Stephen King's IT, or The Office, I'll be posting works for those, as well!!
Please come check it out. This is a real passion project spearheaded by some amazing people, all from right here on fimfiction! They want this website to foster a welcoming and positive community. Come join us!!
Interesting, especially if the site allows for various works of fiction. I believe this is a very healty way of dealing with the problem, hope you guys can make it work. Best of luck!
Oh, sweet, I'm down! While I'd argue that there's a difference in severity between some types of the objectionable content you mentioned, it's still in poor taste regardless, and I wholeheartedly welcome a community more heavily moderated to avoid such things. I've actually been sitting on a concept for a non-MLP crossover fic for like five years now, but couldn't find a platform good enough to post it on. Maybe Offprint can work!

So great to hear you guys are interested!! All forms of fiction are welcome on the site, including original fiction and poetry. Definitely share the link around with people who may be interested, and if you'd like to support during alpha, you can find the discord link on the main site!

The Discord invite is broken, I already tried it.

Whoops, looks like that one hasn't been updated. Here is the correct link!
Hmm... this is something I could try out.
By the way, do you possibly know what the Invite Code for Offprint is.
I am very interested. At what point will it be possible to join?

It's going to be a while before registration is open open. Right now, even the authors who are posting don't have the ability to comment on each other's fics, follow each other, rate fics, etc. It's very bare-bones, and it's under active development.
Your best shot at becoming involved with the community right now is to check out the site, then join the discord. It'll be in closed alpha (only ~100 authors) at least through the end of the calendar year, unfortunately, but you can still chat with authors/readers via the discord server!
Glad to hear you're interested!! It's a very cool group, and the site has a lot of potential

Invite codes are generated on an individual basis, and unfortunately I cannot give them out. In the future, invite codes are being given to participants in the discord server who are active, polite, and helpful, and who contribute meaningfully to the site's culture and development.
That's all I've been told, so I can't give any more info, unfortunately! The "closed alpha" phase is highly controlled, so there's a lot of restrictions currently on what users can do, how many can join, etc.
Really glad to hear you're interested!!

Ah, I see. Understandable.
