Remember, Germans petitioned the League Of Nations to forbid military usage of 12th gauge because of Americans who brought with them their trusty "hunting" weapons. 12 gauge is a very dangerous thing, it tears off limbs and leaves buckshot inside the body which is sometimes impossible to remove without killing the patient in some cases.
Never treat a weapon as insignificant only because it isn't a 200mm howitzer.

"Stupidity" is a very relative term that rarely explains anything. In 2017 there were 13 000 alcohol-related deaths in the USA, were all of these people stupid? Another statistics for the same 2017th: in Russia, there were 28 000 deaths from alcohol poisoning. Over twice as many as in the USA despite Russians heavily manipulating their statistical numbers and Russia itself only having a third of the USA's population. Are Russians stupid then? What about the drunk professor from Saint-Petersburg, who caused 3 separate car crashes trying to get to his job?
I doubt all of these people are stupid and this is only one of the most blatantly polarizing statistics you can get.
