    One Year

It's hard to believe it's been a year since my dad died. Sometimes it feels like a decade ago, sometimes it feels like it was just last week.

Hello, fellow adventurers!

I just wanted to make sure I keep the line of communication open and clear with you. As many of you may have probably noticed, The Multiverse in a Nutshell failed to update on time this week, just like last week. I promise you that there are two very good reasons for this.

1. I can't share details with you, but I've been collaborating with another author on a very special Multiverse-related surprise! I'll be sure to let you all know the moment it's available to read!

2. I've improved as an author.

Let me explain #2. One of the quintessential pitfalls of doing any kind of art is that it feels like the better you get, the WORSE you get. You get better at spotting flaws in your work, places you can improve instead of sticking to the same old standard. While my productivity on Multiverse was at an all-time high, I feel like my quality hasn't been all that it can be. Lately, it's just felt like my writing is simply "Get X character to Y location so that Z can happen." It's less an adventure and more a checklist of events.

So I've been taking a little time to re-evaluate my writing process and whether or not I need to drop to one update a week so that I have time to properly revise my chapters. (A staggering revelation, considering I've usually gone straight from the last word of a chapter to the "publish" button for the last 8 years.)

So I'm more or less sorting myself out as an artist for a little bit. Regular updates will resume soon, I promise! I have some of the best readers in the world, and I know I'm lucky you've all been so understanding every time I've needed to take a break. I hope you can bear with me for the sake of keeping our adventures growing!

Sincerely,
-Pennington Inkwell

Rock on man, growth as a writer is always a good thing.

Of course you should feel bad about your previous writing. It's a sign you're making progress as an artist.

By the same token, don't beat yourself up too much, either. You obviously had an idea good enough to spend a lot of time and effort on in the first place.
