SAPR Rewrite Volume 3 Cover by MRK50

In another sign of how overly optimistic I once was about how long it would take me to get through this rewrite, back in January 2021 I had a cover for Volume 3 done by MRK50, whose absence from the fandom since then is much lamented. With the new phase of the story due to start on Monday, I can finally share it with you all:

Shameless shilling of my non-MLP fics

Those of you who enjoy SAPR, but who possibly find it a bit too big, a bit too slow, or those of who you don't have any problems with it at all but would like to read more RWBY fics from me may be interested in a couple of new fics that I've started fairly recently without any MLP elements.

Team SAPR and Fluffy by Tianshiko

A little over a year ago I commissioned this artwork of Team SAPR, the stuffed beowolf and mascot of Benni Havens'; the artist, the very talented Tianshiko, had some health issues and wasn't able to work on it for a long time, but now they've finished it and I hope you'll all agree that it was worth the wait.

    On the future of SAPR

So... when I first started rewriting SAPR I told everyone that it would not impede the forward movement of the story. I never kept that promise exactly as I intended it at the time that I made it, but I never exactly broke it either.

    Until now.

Signal Boost for Clockwork2003 - Urgent Help needed

So, I was contacted by another author today, Clockwork2003, who find himself in a position that we, unfortunately, may all find ourselves in at some point in our lives: getting the dreaded cancer diagnosis.

SAPR - Rewritten · 6:51pm Jun 22nd, 2020

If you look at SAPR now you will see that the very first chapter - the prologue - now has (Rewritten) against it. That is because, well, it's been rewritten, to tidy a few things up, make it read a little better, and take into account some later developments in the story.

I know that some of you haven't always liked me going back and changing bits of the story after they've been published; but nobody has forced me to do this, it's just that...I love this story. I think it's the best thing that I've ever written and I just want to make it the best that it can be and that is why the whole thing is going to be getting an overhaul...eventually. There's a lot to get through after all.

Now, I want to make a couple of things clear, first of all that this will not interrupt the forward momentum of the story. I know that sometimes when an author says they're going to go back and rewrite they lose interest and stop updating. That isn't going to happen. New chapters will continue to update every Thursday, as they have been for the last couple of weeks, barring something unexpected. If updates do stop it will be because I have to suddenly start working weekends, not because of rewrites. Keeping the story moving will always be my priority.

The second thing I want to point out is that these won't (always) be minor touches. In some cases, where I'm pretty happy with things already, they will be. In other cases I'm talking about whole new chapters being inserted into the beginning and mid-sections of the story, to add in mostly the things that you all liked but didn't get enough: more Weiss and her rivalry with Sunset, more slice of life school stuff; as well as things that I wanted to do but let myself be dissuaded from doing like spending more time on Jaune's visit to his family.

So far only the prologue has been rewritten, chapters will be updated with (Rewritten) against them as and when they are...rewritten. New chapters will be inserted into the correct place in the narrative.

I'm totally okay with having more reasons to re-read from the beginning.

Good luck and keep up the amazing work.

hey you do what you gotta do I've been having a blast reading this story and I love what you've done to certain characters that the main show honestly should have done (IMO) so whatever you do to the story I know you'll only make it better with these edits and additional chapters
looking forward to reading the next available chapter and to see what sunset has been up to when you transitioned to the gang in Atlas and Jaune and phyrra in Mistral

I totally understand. I myself am going through a wave of re-edits of one of my stories.

That's cool.

If it's not a bother, can you upload a post for what was added from time to time?

As much as I also love this story, needing to continually re-read the whole thing to try and figure out which piece was added or altered might be just a teeny bit cumbersome :)

Not to say that a re-read out out of order or anything.

Sounds cool boss, I'd recommend trying to get an editor to comb through for all the little stuff if possible. I've been bingeing the whole story over the last 2 weeks or so (only 15 more chapters til I'm caught up woo!) and there is certainly enough in the way of misspellings and mistaken word choice to warrant it. I wish ya luck with the rewrites and new chapters, it's a tight rope to walk to add things into a story after the fact.

What I will do is put up another notice when it's all done and that way you'll only have to re-read once.

Plus the summary will be updated as well so you can just look at that if you want.

Oh sweet lord please no.

Yup, definitely gonna wait for that. I’d go insane otherwise.

Don’t get me wrong, you do you! Improving and expanding on things is cool! But yeah, adding and rewriting that, I’d have to reread every time.
