(Now that I can finally post things without that cowardly imbecile breathing down my back)
To me, hitting the mark doesn't mean
-Understanding the characters
-Or getting the point of the situation...
...No, no, no.
It means rushing the plot along so you can get to that ONE SCENE you've been waiting for. Make something happen that you want to have happen regardless of what the characters go through (To an extent)
After all, look at the MLP MOVIE, when Twilight screwed up and balked at everyone...
Someone else mentioned in their blog (I won't give names)
It broke me so badly that the movie staff would allow the characters I grew to love for so long to forget all of their lessons and regress to their old selves. It showed that, quite frankly, they don't really care about character development so long as they hit those movie cliches.
And that's EXACTLY how I feel when I make fics.
I'm not here to UNDERSTAND... and I'm not here to DEVELOP... I'm here to HIT THAT MARK (And get what I want to have for a change instead of suffocating under all this bullshit you call Development) I don't want to GET ALONG... I want to GET EVEN!
And I'll give you examples using my YU-GI-OH SPIEZ FINAL SEASON!
After a brainwashed Celestia is defeated in the final face-off, she, and every other Equestrian who invaded the Dueling Dimension, get sucked back into their own world via a massive whirlwind

Another example.. I couldn't wait for the SIEGE on Equestria Scene, I got to do SO MUCH that I really wanted to do...
Even in the Narrations, I got to SAY what I really wanted to SEE.
The stage is set for our heroes most dangerous adventure yet, for they are heading ona course leading directly into the jaws of the enemy.
It's time for a showdown with My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic!
First part... lighting the fires to make them all panic...

Burning debries crashing down, setting fires to homes and trees and everything...
The ponies all scatter, screaming in panic. Some even fall from the palace battlements.
And then... It's on...!
Gunfight as "Secret Agent Man" and it's totally CHAOTIC..

And yet another MARK I HIT, especially for people who think the humans are being too harsh on Equestria
"They're invaders! they come into our world, they brainwash our people, they try to crash the moon into the Earth to kill us-- They're invaders, and they need to be stopped!"
but there you go again... I HIT MY MARK (I did what I wanted, I got to see what I wanted) I hit the mark I was aiming for.
THAT... is my interpretation of "hitting the mark," and it's what I came for.
-Beast Boy Gave up on Terra and continues to let people walk all over him
-Terra willfully broke BB's heart for her own selfish desire, and has no qualms
-The Titans are bitches and bastards to BB (Especially Raven) even when he's not annoying
-While Twilight and her Pony posse always live happily ever after and don't understand what real pain is...
...So I'm here to "hit my mark"
You characters made me sick in your canon, and I don't like the way you went about things or how things turned out, and I'm not going to tolerate it.
When you guys are here in my fics (Most of the time) You're not here to grow and develop, you're not here to UNDERSTAND, or to OPEN UP, and your certainly not here to become better people.
This is a Prison/Torture Chamber, not a luxury hotel, or a rehabilitation center.
...when you're here... you're here to be punished!"
