WHEW!!!
Finally handing that defeat to Twilight like that, and finally getting Masquerade to taunt her like that, I was waiting to do that for a LONG time since the fic first started. (My only regret is it's not Princess Twilight who's been defeated) Ah well, she's lost a duel before (Yugioh Spiez: Final season)
Still that's what it;s like when it comes to Yu-gi-Oh:
You see, most us who watch the show, we're not really interested in the main plot, or the characters and their growth and development. We care more about the duels, cuz that's what the show is pretty much all about.
We don't even care WHO wins or WHO loses in the show (Not even if it's the HERO who loses and pays the price) We just love watching the duels...
-The Trash-talking
-The cards being played
-The explosions and dramatics...
...But more importantly, we watch those duels so we can develop our own strategies with our real life decks, or gain the inspo we need for Stories. (In which case there IT DOES matter to us who wins or loses)
Bottom-line, just as the My Little Pony Movie did when Twilight screwed up, just the writers made Twilight screw up, and revert back to her unstable self, forgetting all her friendship studies.
...Some of us care more about HITTING THE MARK (The point in our stories) than character growth and all that stuff.
I wanted Masquerade to beat Twilight and taunt her like that... I HIT THE MARK, and I didn't need too much development to get there, nor care about it if any.
And like I've said on Many occasions, even if I DO hit the mark with the characters doing all that crappy development and becoming and doing things I don't want them to be or doing... there could be trouble.
For Example: Masquerade (Beast Boy) He snapped out of morality years ago (Being robbed of so much and betrayed by so many) He's not happy, and he doesn't intend to BE happy (Happiness and Him just AREN'T meant to be) He's not looking for happiness, he's only after power!
-He's rich (To an extent)
-He's powerful
-People Respect/Fear him (As they should)
Why should he let go of the past anyway? Terra tried and that was a foolish mistake, and so did Set Kaiba (He wanted to bury his past the way Terra did. Not "Just don't think about it" but EXACTLY like Terra did) Don't talk of it. Don't remember it, pretend it never happened.
George Santayana: "Those who forget their past are doomed to repeat it!"
(Yugioh episode 134) Yugi to Kaiba: "How foolish! It's our past that makes us who we are today. You must remember what happened before so you can LEARN from your past. You can't ignore where you came from! It's our history that shapes our future!"
All that and more is just what I need to ram Terra into the ground, and those who bluntly told Beast Boy to "Move on" or "Get over it" as well.
He was created to harsh on the Girls and their ways of Friendship and Love,
Masquerade to any of the girls: "You're showing me how weak you are. You preach about friendship, love, hope, and claim they are your greatest strengths, but at the same time... THEY HOLD YOU BACK!!
and beat up the Titans for beating him down all those years ago.
Masquerade to Robin: "No, YOU listen to me! I'm done with that life! I don't want to be a hero, it doesn't pay you... You pay It!" (More on that another time)
-No reconciliation!
-No forgive!
-No forget!
That is how I want him to be...
*Me to Masquerade:* "And... if you make any such attempt to forgive the Titans, or Terra, my lad... You... will die!
HIT THAT MARK, AND DON'T DISPLEASE ME!!!
*Takes a deep breath*
ahhh...
Now then, as for Rainbow wanting punch Masquerade's lights out...
You got to get this through your heads... she can't!
-She can't risk being disqualified from the tournament for foul play
- "A duelist settles their issues with a duel, not their fists!"
-She still wouldn't succeed, not even with her Equestrian powers and super speed. It'd be like Willie E. Coyote trying to catch Road Runner.
He would just trip her up, or grab her by the wrist and flip her on her back, or just not even bother and step out of the way so she crashes into the wall and falls flat on her back/face.
Bottom-line: "He's a Master Gamer and Extreme Athlete. An attack on him would be foolish."
Rainbow: "It's go time! Now put 'em up cowboy!!"
Masquerade: "Fool! Threaten me again and you'll met a worse fate than your friend! Ha!"
Now I think I've made myself clear. "He wins... She loses!" Done!
