So, the reason every single pony we've seen, even the bald ones, have a tail is that...
They have bones in there
I was just... doing some research in the Wikia and stumbled upon this. I dunno how I ended up looking at pony's bone structure and anatomy but here we are.
Hey, that also explains why they can move their tails at will!
This is an actual bone in equines; the part of the tail that it's in is called the dock.
