Fallout Oasis Reviewed and Working on a New Story · 12:01am Apr 12th, 2020

I hate announcing work on a new story on my blog because of how little I've written of late but this thing has only been in the works for a couple of days and a good chunk of it is done already. Keep an eye on a release late in April; it's being submitted for the DLS clopfiction contest so it needs to be done by then at any rate. I'll post more about it when I get ready to post it.
The real news is Oasis got reviewed and received an average score of 6/10. Very little of the review was a surprise but it did confirm something someone has already posted by way of criticism; it's just too short. The story itself is good and the characters are fine but they needed more to do. All things considered, it's a pretty good thing to get hit on by a critic if you think about it. If Gordon Ramsay takes a bite of your food and his only complaint is that you didn't serve a large portion... well that's better than having him spit it out and proclaim it to be "shit".

I don't think a full-length version of Alicorns of Oasis is a bad idea at all, honestly. The only thing holding me back is myself, really. For whatever reason, I haven't been able to hold down a longfic to save my life. The only reason I think a long version of Oasis is even possible is that I can draw from Fallout itself so that will be something I have in the back of my mind going forward. The real good news in this blog is I am able to write. I found some nice music that got my muse off its ass and I've had it on repeat for most of the day. Let me know what you think.

I commented on the review, but I'll repeat it here: I think AoA was long enough for its purposes, and its greatest accomplishment was that it got someone who wasn't remotely interested in FoE before--me--interested in the characters and curious to know more. I look forward to seeing this new story develop and prereading it!

I just can't help but feel deep unease at the prospect of going into work every day to a grocery store with hundreds of people walking past me each of whom could possibly be carrying the virus. I can wear a mask and all that jazz but I'm still at very high risk due to the asymptomatic form of COVID-19 and my seasonal allergies make me feel like I'm liable to come down with the virus at any moment. I don't feel like a hero for helping keep food on the shelf I feel like a dumbass for working a shitty job during a pandemic.
Hey, what you mention sounds interesting, I really liked your Oasis fic, it was really great, it wasn't bad to be a little short, but in itself it was worth it ^^, I hope you can achieve that project you have in mind, because I'm excited by the idea of seeing what you're preparing XD.
I am a big fan of the Alicorns of FoE, so much so that I even plan to create my own fic where my main character is Zoncorn (Zebra / Unicorn), it is him that I use as a profile photo so you have an idea of what his appearance is like , and he will meet a dark blue alicorn, and he will also meet a pony bat, in which both mares will fall in love with him, and he has no idea how to deal with his feelings for them, for the simple fact that he does not know do, since he also feels the same for the two mares at the same, but he feels that it is wrong to love them at the same time, which will be very difficult to assimilate, if it will be very difficult for him to have his emotions in order ^^ ( although I plan to keep both and with them he has some XD foals).

I have a headcanon that Roseluck ended up in a Vault devoted to ending racism through interbreeding before the bombs fell and hooked up with a zebra. The population survived and re-entered the wasteland after a length of time and dispersed itself throughout the Wasteland. So a good chunk of Equestrian zebroids are directly related to Roseluck. It feels appropriate somehow for Roseluck to be memorialized in this manner.
I'm glad you enjoyed Oasis. Sadly, I just don't have a solid working concept on any stories right now and I'm entirely blocked. I do really love the idea of a prequel for my alicorns but I'm not inspired as to what I'll do with them. I suppose mentioning the Zebra/Pony vault is a priority though. That would make for some interesting audio logs for Shimmersage to come across!
