    Jed On: Stories Taken Down/P2P

Short version. I've taken down several of my stories: I believe the phrase is "pull to publish", as I'm going to strip them down and work them back up as original novels, short stories and more.

    Final (?) Update

    Hi all.

So it’s obviously been a while since I wrote something on here, or indeed updated anything. I’ve been busy for a while, and I haven’t had much motivation to come back to this site for a while. There are a lot of reasons for that, but most of them aren’t really my business to disclose entirely.

    Jed On: Brief writing update

    Hey all.

Short version: I’ve wasted enough people’s time with long talks about my mental state by now.

Haven’t managed to write much of anything since last blog post. Not for this place, not original work, nothing. It’s frustrating, but I’ve had to deal with writer’s block pretty much on and off for the last ten years so... 🤷🏻‍♂️

Jed On: Current Events and History

There’s a lot of awful things happening in the world right now, so I’ve had to really think about the best way to approach it. It sort of hit home when an author whose work I actually liked turned out to be… well, other people know better than I do so I’ll leave it at that.

Jed On: Spectrum: Redux outline! (SPOILERS AHEAD) · 12:27pm Apr 11th, 2020

Hi all!

Further to yesterday’s little tipsy rambling (for which my head is paying now, believe me 😂) I’ve been working on the outline for Spectrum: Redux. It’s been surprisingly exciting - I’ve had a burst of new inspiration and it’s given me some fun ideas for what to do in the next few chapters.

I follow an amazing fanfic author in AO3 who has a habit of putting “spoiler sentences” out, so I thought I’d follow their example and share with you the Chapter Titles for everything I have worked out solidly so far, along with the quotes for each. They’re not in spoiler tags, so be warned that spoilers be ahead. 😉

This outline will likely be periodically re-edited before the next part goes up, to reflect the ever-shifting nature of how the story will unfold.

Hope you enjoy, and in the meantime, take care all.

Cheers,
Jed.

Hammer and Anvil

“In real life, it is always the anvil that breaks the hammer.”
George Orwell.

Interlude: Moments of Reckoning

“We do not know what our chances of survival are, so we fight as if they were zero. We do not know what we are facing, so we fight as if it was the dark gods themselves.”
Justicar Alaric, Warhammer 40,000: Grey Knights.

The Concordat Begins

“Strangers from distant lands, friends of old. You have been summoned here to answer the threat of Mordor. Middle-Earth stands on the brink of destruction. None can escape it. You will unite or you will fall.”
Master Elrond at his Council, from The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.

The World Changes

“The world changes, and all that once was strong now proves unsure. How shall any tower withstand such numbers and such reckless hate?”
Theoden, King of Rohan, The Lord of the Rings

Suddenly Silenced

“We call it the Death Star. There is no better name. And the day is coming soon when it will be unleashed.”
Galen Urso, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

The Answer We Feared

“This ain’t no place for no hero
This ain’t no place for no better man,
This ain’t no place for no hero to call home.”
The Heavy, Short Change Hero.

The Mystic

“There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil.”
Gandalf the Grey, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.

Interlude: The Sentinel’s Request

“You helped start a war. Don’t you want to help me end it?”
Captain Gabriel Lorca, Star Trek: Discovery - “Context is for Kings”.

Commodore Romero

“I know exactly who you are.”
Captain Gabriel Lorca, Star Trek: Discovery - “Context is for Kings”.

A New World

“Out there is a new world. Out there is our destiny.”
CLU 2, Tron: Legacy.

Knock On The Sky And Listen To The Sound

“I kept dreaming of a world I thought I'd never see. And then one day, I got in.”
Kevin Flynn, Tron: Legacy.

The Last Ride To Valhalla

“This is an evil door… and my death lies beyond it. I will dare to pass it nonetheless.”
Halbarad Dunadan, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.

The Battle of Blink

“If I'm gonna die, I'm gonna die historic on a fury road!”
Nux, Mad Max: Fury Road.

The Art of the Selfless

“Flynn is teaching me about the art of the selfless… about removing oneself from the equation.”
Quorra, Tron: Legacy.

Departure

“There are so many stories where some brave hero decides to give their life to save the day, and because of their sacrifice, the good guys win, the survivors all cheer, and everybody lives happily ever after. But the hero… never gets to see that ending. They'll never know if their sacrifice actually made a difference. They'll never know if the day was really saved. In the end, they just have to have faith. Ain’t that a bitch?”
Epsilon-Church, Red Vs Blue.

A Desperate Plan

“The Emperor has made a critical error and the time for our attack has come.”
Mon Mothma, Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.

The Battle, Part One

“Arise! Arise, riders of Theoden! Spears shall be shaken! Shields shall be splintered! A sword day! A red day! Ere the Sun rises!”
Theoden, King of Rohan, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.

The Battle, Part Two

We heard of the horns in the hills ringing,
the swords shining in the South-kingdom,
Steeds went striding to the Stoningland
as wind in the morning. War was kindled.
Part of the Song of the Mounds of Mundburg, from The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.
