The Girl who Really Didn't Just Live

As you might notice from my blog title today, I'm revisiting The Girl who Didn't Just Live. Last time, the story died and was replaced by the short-lived A Hogwarts Harmony. Which was replaced by the even shorter-lived ARM (I don't think I've released even the full title for that one yet, let alone the first chapter, but it's pretty close to DOA)... and a recent comment

    I'm not afraid to die.

No, don't get me wrong, I'm not suicidal.

The thing is... this morning, I fell ill. It was probably a couple days ago when it actually started, but despite repeated measuring, I didn't have a fever. That changed last night- my temperature shot from normal to a moderate fever overnight, left me with no energy to anything when I got up.

The Girl Who... really didn't just live after all, I guess.

Pardon the twisted title up there, but I couldn't resist. I am, after all, talking about TGwDJL: The Girl who Didn't Just Live... but also died.

    Hiatus... Expired!

    Hello.

For the last while, despite a few updates to some stories (I guess TGwDJL got a rewrite released seven weeks ago...?), I've been on Author Hiatus for the last while, and now I'm finally coming back. I've restabilized myself, and I'm ready to resume writing, and actually getting stuff done once again.

She who did Far More than Just Living

    Hai.

So, we now have The Girl who Didn't Just Live Chapter 22 live. It was an absolute nightmare to rewrite, I can tell you- it took a small eternity to make sure there was actually a reason for Hailey to resurrect her mother. Not her father, though, that part ended up getting dropped from the chapter... yet it still grew by a thousand words or so.

Implications of a Delay... · 8:17pm Mar 16th, 2020

As many of you have noticed, I missed the regularly scheduled publication of On the Implications of Parallel Worlds last week. I apologize for this; it was a combination of writer's block, and my Internet also died a few times, apparently because of a brush fire.

And those of you that have read the latest chapter of Just Like Magic of Old might know I won't be missing it this week- unless the Internet dies at an inopportune moment, I suppose. And as of about five minutes ago, I've already posted OtIoPW Chapter 3 on my Patreon... where it will go automatically public at noon tomorrow, whether the Internet dies or not.

And I've been thinking, in terms of pacing... OtIoPW is doing better than The Gate did, I believe- better, more fleshed out scenes, making generally longer scenes... and more chapters. Looking through The Gate, the introductory trip through Diagon Alley was restricted to just Gingrotts and Ollivander's... I'm thinking I should be able to cram in a few more things for OtIoPW, don't you think?

Happy reading, whenever, whatever, and wherever you read!

It is OK to take your time. We, readers, are grateful that you were trying to keep your schedule. As long as you haven't abandon your story and still publish it on regular basis, we are completely fine with a couple days late.

As it is, this new OtloPW indeed looks better than the Gate. The story has more substantial materials in them. The reactions of the first contact are entertaining if you can manage them. Looking forward to the new chapter.

Careful you don't go in for too much cramming though, let the story breathe mate!

Oh worry not, it's only going/staying in if it reads right.
