The last research paper I worked on has published at last.

The process is REALLY slow. I finished all my work on this 3 years ago.

    https://www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.2316969121

This one uses a lot of my histology and in-situ hybridization with RNAscope results.

But no more science for me. Now I build houses and driveways... and rip them apart too! It's a sort of yin-yang thing I've got going here.

A comedic scene from a new Clouseua story I'm fiddling with...

I just came up with this, and imagining Peter Sellers delivering the line had me laughing for 5 minutes straight.

Clouseau, "For you see, the murderer was... the bullet!"

    Guy in room, "The bullet?"

Clouseau, "Of course, no one would suspect the bullet of firing itself!"

Woman in room, "But that... that's madness!"

THE PIRATE KING BREAKS THE NETFLIX ANIME ADAPTATION CURSE!!!

Only the Pirate King could do it...

It's as good as possible. You cannot do such a goofy anime any better than this, and it's GREAT! I friggin LOVED it.

Last call for Bronycon items up on Ebay!

I'll be delisting all remaining MLP items Sept 1st to focus entirely on selling my huge stash of collectible magazines, which take up vastly more space than the MLP items. Everything here fits into a single flat box I can pick up with one hand. The magazines... weigh over 700 lbs total. Sooooo, kinda makes sense to deal with those ASAP!

The Sonic Movie COMETH!! · 10:39pm Feb 6th, 2020

And now, to make this movie the BIGGEST BLOCKBUSTER OF 2020!!!

4 the lulz.

At least it's better than "Cats". ANYTHING is better than "Cats".

Also, better than the handling of the Iowa Caucus. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHH!!! Gloves is off now beeyatch!

EDIT: Naturally, mainstream critics (angry that moviegoers don't believe a word they say anymore and gave the finger to "Birds of Prey" despite the critics gushing praise and brown-nosing) aren't thrilled with it. Screw them. YouTube critics I follow as they've yet to steer me wrong have said it's surprisingly good, and Jim Carey is essentially back to his whacky, hilarious-though-sinister 1990's best.

I shall now bankrupt myself going to see it 1,435 times!

I kind of liked how it was supposed to be before. Also what does that say about the end product when it can be redone in what is the media equivelant of an all day sucker and not lose any of its cohesion

I still need to watch cats while high

I mean... how much competition does it really have?

5198568 It's a video game movie. We're already talking about near the very bottom of narrative cohesion as it is. The only way to go lower is to delve into Blumhouse and Shyamalan... and in that direction lies true madness!

:trollestia:

5198816 Birds of Pr- (watches that movie's trailer again) Ok, Sonic's going to make $200 million opening weekend. :rainbowlaugh:

5198705 The Cats want you to do that. When your mind is impaired... that's how they get inside. :fluttershbad:

5198821
Yeah, if the past year is any indication most of its notional competition will be similar levels of "rehashed when the first hash wasn't even that good"

I will watch this movie for 3 reasons:

3) It's a Sonic film. I'm kind of a Sonic fan and I've waited for it for a long time.

2) Jim Carrey. I don't care much of his political stance, I think he's a good actor and his interpretation of Robotnick sounds spot on.

1) The fact that the director actually listened to the fans and took time and effort to make a model of Sonic that, not only looks infinitely better than the previous one, but also looks almost better than the model we got in the actual games.
Even if the movie is not good, I think we need to show Hollywood that people is interested into respecting characters appearence rather than alienate the audience for getting woke points.

That said, I doubt this movie is going to be awful by any mean.
Simple? Yes. Corny? Very likely. But that's not the problem.
Sonic is not a franchise that focused on deep aspects of philosophy or stuff like that. It was about having fun and saving the world from a mad scientist.

5198885
What don’t you like about Carrey’s political stance?

5199104
I've heard that he, like sadly many actors I like, suffer of Trump Derangement Syndrome.
Like, they can't not help it but rant at how awful Trump is or how bad are the people which voted him, even when the argument isn't centered about him.
There's nothing wrong at disliking Trump, but I would prefer for their thoughts to remain their own.
Their job is to act, not to talk about politics.

5199104 He's wrong.

As is anyone else who disagrees with my perfect and divine outlook on the cosmos.

:trixieshiftright:

:trollestia:

5199119
Why shouldn’t actors or musicians or athletes or anyone else be allowed to use their platforms to talk about causes dear to them?

5199345 To paraphrase Anthony Hopkins, "We're actors, we don't actually know anything. We spend our lives playing make-believe."

He's one of the few I actually respect.

5199345
Why do I have the distinct impression that if they were going against your particular set of political or societal beliefs, you'd be singing a different tune?

5199605
Well, movies can be an excellent medium to do such a thing

Keep in mind this guy is pointing out things I understood when I was, like, eleven or twelve, which is around the time I saw this movie. That grown people have to be shown this and told this is bad makes me angry:twilightangry2:

5200611 Movies can and do frequently present metaphors, but they're not necessarily correct, and often times (especially lately) demonstrably flawed, factually incorrect, or just plain stupid. They can be horribly misleading, since personal biases quickly subsume any objectivity in a medium where fantasy is the pervading 'reality' and these stories are crafted by people not exactly living in the real world to begin with, who are told how wonderful they are the more 'woke' they become by a bunch of Twitteratti blue checkmarks. The same goes for scripted television... and we're seeing how well that's working out, given the recent collapse in ratings across the board for blatant SJW content.

Hence, why I'm interested in it primarily for entertainment; how well they can craft the make-believe and tell the story. They can present ideas that I can analyze, but not automatically assume must be correct simply because some overpaid hack shat out a script. I don't shape my actual life around any of it.

It just so happens that leftist-themed programs and movies have been getting 'progressively' (HA! I did a thing!) worse, and general audiences are tuning out.

5199605

""To praphrase Anthony Hopkins "We actors are all mentally deficient, we only pretend to be normal members of society." He is the only actor I respect." :rainbowlaugh:

Why shouldn't actors be allowed to express their opinion? China hasn't bought the rest of the world yet, and knowing what a person stands for is always a good thing.

5204811 They can express their OPINION, the problem is they demand that we accept the opinions they're told to hold by their agents and political cohorts as FACT, and any dissent is instantly demonized.

They hold positions of influence, and therefore are more responsible than most when they mislead the members of the populace who are rather naïve (which is a sadly sizeable proportion). Never forget that every dictatorial/authoritarian regime in the modern era has utilized celebrity to push its agenda. Propaganda encompasses every segment of media and entertainment, hence why I tend to disregard the opinions of overpaid celebrities... in addition to the fact that I know vastly more than they ever will about virtually everything. :trixieshiftright:

5204873
I guess you are right, and there is too many people that just worship actors for reasons I can't really understand, but at the same time I really don't want to believe that *everyone* is just constantly lying out of personal interest.

5205011 Welcome to the human race. You may check all your expectations at the door.

I am the truth, I am the reality... I am all your worst nightmares come true! I AM THE EATER OF WORLDS, AND OF CHILDREN! AND YOU-... no wait, that was the demon spider clown...

Uhm... I forgot who I am again. :derpytongue2:

5201186
Oh yeah, I agree with that. A good message is like the hose someone left behind after you move into a new house

5205613 A bad message is like the skeletons they left in the basement. :twilightoops:

5198819
It just occurred to me: a Shyamalan-directed Silent Hill movie. Shyamalan and Konami even have the "full pants-on-head idiocy" thing in common!

5217543 We need a new live-action Street Fight movie... with Nicholas Cage as Bison.

Directed by Michael Bay.

This will be AMAZING!!
