Happy New Year, everybody! · 12:59pm Dec 31st, 2019

Writing this a bit in advance since I'm cooking tonight.

Quite the year. FiM actually ended, and on a high note according to what I've heard. (Fan ta dig, Svenska Netflix! :flutterrage: Få tummen ur arslet någon gång!) My tooth kept trying to eat my head for... gosh, 1/2-3/4 of the whole dang year, or thereabouts. Lost 10-15 kgs something, mostly by walking longer with the dog + trying to be a bit more mindful of how much I eat—though the tooth probably 'helped' a tad. Think I sorted my mind quite a lot this year, and came out of it better then I went in—better then I've been in a long time, even. Even the extended family seems to be doing mostly better over-all then they were last year.

Not sure if history will recall this year quite as 'mixed, but mostly good,' though. Freakin' tide-pods. Hong Kong all but imploding. That black-hole pic was super impressive... but think a lot of people found it a bit too humbling by even space standards. Notre Dame burning. Brexit grinding to a halt to the point it's barely even a joke anymore. First all-female space walk. First ever man-made object, Voyager 2, entering interstellar space. Measles and other equal crap going from near extinct to surging again, because of bored soccer-moms trusting their hearts and random book-of-faces post over actual science. Flat Earth having an equal and equally stupid resurgence.

...Better then 2018, at least, I guess? In a 'stupid with flashes of brilliance' beats 'raging dumpster fire' way, but still.

But you know what? I do have a good feeling about the coming decade. And I mean that, sincerely. I go into it with way more hope and dreams then I did 2010—and you all, this site, and a certain kid's show I watched almost daring myself too sometimes 2012-13 something is frankly a large part of that. Like, I got to relearn in a wonderful way that you don't have to be the cynical and ironic shit-head that the 90's and 00's seemed so obsessed with molding everybody into. You CAN actually tell a story about Kindness, Generosity, Honesty, Laughter, Loyalty & Friendship without the punchline being an eye-roll and groans.

You can... well, make or do something nice. Even something small, perhaps silly or outright corny, and have it resonate with people.

:ajsmug: :yay: :pinkiehappy: :rainbowkiss: :raritywink:

See you all next year. Hope y'all have a wonderful and safe New Years!
