Finished Season 9! · 4:05pm Dec 13th, 2019

The Big Mac Problem- A story destined to be overshadowed due to its placement in the season, which is a shame. Felt like the last 'classic' style' episode playing to the show's strengths. Humor was on point, and while I'm not a fan of this ship it made me like Sugar Belle more. Nice how they slipped Lyra and BonBon (my favorite background pone) proposing in. 3 and a half out of 5.

The Ending of the End part 1- Decided to split these as they're written by two different people. What's with the jaunty, inappropriate music during this story? Why does Gilda back in season 1 have a more badass theme than what's here?! Really failing to sell the supposed stakes!

The silhouette of Grogar transforming into Discord was stylish, but the scene fell flat, and it was a terribly executed twist with an awful motivation. Really, you resurrected Sombra and jailbroke major villains, putting everyone at risk just to give Twilight her billionth test?! Cozy Glow testing chaos magic was awesome, at least.

The Pillars went down like total scrubs. Starswirl in particular was built up to be a supposed badass, and what was Somnambula planning to do anyhow? Lame. Starlight at least had a nice duel with Chrysalis. Terrible start... 2 out of 5.

The Ending of the End part 2- Really not selling the villains as a real threat, but at least their interactions are still fun. Drama seems completely contrived, especially Twilight feeling sorry for herself. Discord gets off with no consequences, it seems. While I'm not big on the student six they were practically thrown away this season, but at least they get a decent role at the end.

Shining Armor and Cadance are your last defense?! They haven't been useful post season 3! Which is still better than Celestia and Luna; being a distraction is the most use they've ever had! Feels like they're throwing tons of fanservice at the audience to distract from a weak story; tons of characters show up but I'm just shrugging by now. Weakest two parter. 2 and a half out of 5.

The Last Problem- Luster Dawn is a nice callback to Twilight's beginning. Really don't like Twilight's or Spike's designs here, and the bags under everyone's eyes look terrible. Ugh, implied Pinkie/Cheese; I hate that ship but won't hold it against the episode. Seemed really mundane for a send off.

More fanservice, eh, but must admit I do like seeing some characters make a cameo. (Wouldn't have expected Tree Hugger, Capper, and Sunset Shimmer to make the cut, yay!) Song was really good at least, and made me sad. Nice touch with the book closing. 3 out of 5.

Honestly, my least favorite season. Hope the comics send the series off better. But the ride still doesn't end for me; I've yet to see Best Gift Ever or Rainbow Road Trip (these sound more like what I wantel), plus lots of Equestria Girls, and there's of course that new Sugarcube Corner show! Also G5 and fan content. Man, gonna have a big hole ine without this show, but luckily I still watch tons of cartoons to somewhat fill the gap!

The Big Mac Question is one of the sweetest episodes for me.

As for Ending of the End: I personally absolutely loved it, considering it the best two-parter overall. I actually like the Discord Twist.

And for the Last Problem: For me, it was pretty much a constant feels-fest. And the Pinkie/Cheese confirmation was easily one of the best moments of the entire series. And the song was fantastic.

Overall, I actually consider this the best season.

Wish I felt the same. Last great season for me was 7, but I'm glad we got two more.

Your thoughts on the Ending of the End 1 and 2 are the same as mine, just like in my previous blog post. Either way, well done for finally finishing the entire season.

Thank you! I actually don't mind the Grogar twist in concept, but the execution was weakly motivated and executed.

Honestly having the royal sisters can do is just distract the trio is really.. pretty disappointing.
(not counting turning the trio to stone since its so iffy and its the equivalent of kicking someone who's down.)
Hurts for Luna's case for me..
