Update: One of our Dogs is Sick · 5:32am Nov 9th, 2019

Hey, everypony. I'm really sorry I have to post yet another negative blog update, but I feel like I need this to be known in the event I require a hiatus. Just as I got to feeling better, fate conspires against me. It is with a heavy heart that I must announce, for a little while now, one of our dogs, an eleven-year-old golden retriever, has been showing signs of declining health, such as refusing to eat, lethargy, and trouble getting up. My mother took him to the vet, and we learned that he has kidney disease.

We have been trying to get him to take some medicine, but it seems he is at a loss for appetite, and earlier this evening, my mother took him to the vet to get some intravenous saline so as to keep fluids moving through his urinary tract. However, we are completely torn with the difficult decision of paying roughly a thousand dollars for treatment that might not work in the long run, or letting nature take its course. For right now, my parents seem totally against the idea of euthanizing him.

Not only that, but we've had him since he was a puppy, along with his half-brother, a black Labrador, who is still in modest health. I don't know how losing our retriever will affect our black lab, since the two have spent their life together. But if the worst case comes to fruition, we'll do everything we can to ensure our black lab can get back to a good mood and live out his days as such.

So, needless to say... I have been feeling a bit worried and sad at the thought of the eventual passing of one of our dogs. He has been a good friend to me, and I love him. Tbh, it's giving me flashbacks of losing my first dog back in 2008. It was a hard time for me, but I got through it. If I can get through that, than I'm sure that, when the time comes for our current dog to go, I'll be able to move on eventually. I know we're not the first family to lose a beloved pet, and we won't be the last.

I just thought I would let you all know if I would require a hiatus to recover emotionally if it does happen soon, or rather when it happens. And as always, I thank you all for your support, and your continued following has made my experience on this site more than worthwhile. So... thanks, everyone.

Thanks. I sure hope so, too.

My condolences. I suffered familiar once. I had a cat that was like a little brother to me. Died with only 7 years in 2012 from "Cat aids" as they called it. I think I told you before how I honor this cat by basing a domestic cat in one of my stories on it.

Yeah, thanks for your support. I'm just readying myself for when it happens. And I'm sorry about your little friend, despite being 7 years late.

It's okay, how could you have known?

Tiger was his name, special in that he liked to play with water. He also had a "love" for my crippled hand. Either tried to grab it with all fours and groom it, being very exact not to forgot between my fingers or tried to push it away and I pushed back.

And always watched that I don't overslept during school. He also was alway to happy/eager to see the school bus, that my other had to keep him in check until the bus came to a halt
