Twilight floated a second fritter up to her mouth when she realized the first was gone. “What is in these things?” “Mostly love. Love ‘n about three sticks of butter.”

Blast from the Past: Now 100% Less Likely to Get Me In Trouble

Hey, some of you guys remember that thing I did a long time ago, where I wrote up 50 questions about headcanon and suggested people answer them on their blogs, and then, like, everyone on the site wanted to do it, and then the site mods sent me nice but stern messages suggesting I cut that shit out because it was spamming people's feeds?

    Full Circle

Wanderer D posted a touching retrospective of his time in fandom, and that made me remember the very first I ever heard of the show.

The Thrilling Conclusion · 12:42am Sep 17th, 2019

Speaking of publishing… Sun and Hearth is ready to wrap things up. I'm going to post one chapter a day this week, with both the last chapter and epilogue on Friday.

I had talked about doing some kind of recap or summary, and I’ll include a brief, spoilered recap below, but as several people pointed out in the comments, it’s pretty impossible to recap this story…

The recap below is going to go over the most chronologically recent events in-story. But it comes with a strong warning that if these don't stir up memories of the historical scenes and incidental scene of character interaction, this really isn't doing you a bit of good. This is the framework, not the story.

Previously on Sun and Hearth:

Celestia and Smart Cookie have been lovers since soon after the founding of Equestria, though Cookie’s immortality has never been explained. For a time it seemed that all possibilities had been ruled out but the magic of love working through Celestia to keep Cookie alive, an idea that disturbed Cookie to the point where he refused to allow experts in magic to investigate it.

At the prompting of Luna, Celestia tried to manipulate matters so that Cookie might let it be investigated, in the hopes that perhaps it could be used to grant immortality to Fluttershy in order to have Discord under her control eternally. Cookie was furious when he found out, and left her. He then found out that it was not love magic keeping him alive, but refused to return to Celestia based on her attempted manipulation of events.

Twilight arranged for Cookie to stay at Sweet Apple Acres under a pseudonym, where he sought out Applejack’s advice as much as he was able without revealing himself. Though feeling angry, hurt, and abandoned, Celestia refused to discuss her feelings with Luna or Twilight. Celestia was then approached by a griffon politician who asked her to consider a political marriage to an heir of King Guto, to provide leadership to Griffonstone and benefit Equestria militarily. She decided to consider it, much to Discord's amusement.

Post credits post later tonight, unless I fall asleep during Trixie's bedtime.
