Interview with Scribe of the Nightwings

by Nailah

“Alright, now tell me, my dear friend, what inspired your username?

Response: Well, the name originates from the game, Pyre by Supergiant Games.  The first part is in reference to a group known as the Eight Scribes that is a large part of the lore, and the second portion is in reference to a group known as the Nightwings that the protagonist follows a group known as the Nightwings.  And since I am writing here, I thought it was appropriate.

“What drew you into Mlp?

Response: At first, my girlfriend showed me a few episodes of the show, and I was honestly kind of luke-warm on it.  It wasn’t until later when I saw a clip on Youtube from the episode Fake It Til You Make It, where Fluttershy had all of those different characters.  That showed me how creative the show could be, and that’s how I got hooked on it.

“Who is your favorite pony and why?

Response:  This is a hard choice, but I would say it would be a tie between Twilight and Maud.  I resonate with Twilight because she’s an intellectual who has to deal with stress and anxiety, which was something I also dealt with as a child.  So, is nice to see her overcome those personal obstacles and achieve growth in the end. As for Maud….well, she’s Maud. Her straightforward personality is entertaining and I think she makes a nice contrast to Pinkie.

“Favorite episode and why?”

Response:  Another difficult question, but I would have to say Uncommon Bond from Season 7.  Along with the lesson that friends can have very different interests but can still find compromise, I enjoyed how Starlight has her own group of friends outside of the Mane Six.  That really does show how far her character has developed and how much she’s grown.

“What inspires you to write?”

Response: I would say that my main drive to write would have to be character interaction.  I love writing about different situations or conversation and how a character would react in a non-OOC manner.  ‘How would Twilight react to this situation?’ or ‘What would Rainbow Dash say to this character?’. These kinds of questions are what get me really excited to write, especially for crossover fics like the one I’m working on now.

“Tell us about your favorite story, and why it inspires you to write. It doesn't have to be mlp specifically!”

Response: My favorite story would have to be Universe Falls by MiniJen.  It’s a massive fanfic (over 1 million words and counting!) that weaves together the shows Gravity Falls and Steven Universe.  The amount of care and effort the author puts into the story is really what inspired me to go about writing my own story. I wrote a couple of oneshots based off of the fic, and the author was highly impressed with them, so that was a great confidence boost for me.

“Give us the background of the author! Tell us all about you. Well in a short summary.

Response: Nothing too special I suppose.  I’m 21 (turning 22 on Sept 15th) living in Virginia.  I’m a senior in college who has a fondness for cartoons, videogames and a bit of procrastination, but so far my grades are top notch.  I gotta say, writing is a good way for my brain to recharge from all the stress of school.

“With Mlp coming to an end, tell us one thing you have learned from your experiences, and how it has helped you to grow?

Response:  Aside from all the lessons about friendship, I would say Mlp taught me not to be bothered with what other people think about the shows I watch.  If I want to watch some colorful ponies with great character and voice acting learn about friendship in my spare time, that’s my business. If someone tells me I’m a loser for doing so, then I can just say that I don’t really care.

“Is there anything else you'd like to say?

Response:  I just would like to thank you very much for allowing me to have an interview with you.  I think it’s a great way to get myself out there on the site and hopefully I’ve gained some new attention.  If you have any interest in my story My Little Pony: The Pyres of Friendship, feel free to give me a follow, like and comment.  All feedback is helpful for me to become a better writer. May the Eight Scribes watch over you all.

LOXALAS!

Thank you for allowing me the pleasure of interviewing you, you have truly been a pleasure to talk too. I hope you continue being awesome.
