    Birthday Month Update

Hey Fimfiction. Sorry we left on depressing terms with the last blog post. I’m glad to say that’s shifted a bit in the months since. My depression was pretty brutal for most of the first three months of the year, but in April that really began turning around. I’m glad to say I’m doing much better than I was. I got a new therapist and I’m going to do EMDR and Trauma work with her. I’m hopeful that

    Screaming Into The Void

Hey guys. I know it hasn’t been long since I updated but I felt like posting on here since this is a safe place where I usually vent. Normally the life updates are pretty exciting but this one is a little sad, unfortunately. Not to bum anyone out. I just didn’t know where else to put all of this where I knew it would be safe.

    Life updates

Hey fimfiction. It’s been a hot minute since I’ve been on here. Not since June. It’s wild how much things can actually change in five months. I decided to post on here because when it comes to spilling my non-story thoughts, this is definitely my safe place (thank you MLP fandom for that).

A Rant For The Acknowledgement Of Twilight Velvet · 8:56am Aug 21st, 2019

Guys... Can we like do a thing right now? Can we acknowledge the fact that Twilight Velvet was also Shining Armor’s mother and not just Twilight Sparkle’s? Like yeah, okay, Twilight is the heroine of the series, I get it. There are plenty of fanfics and fan art to prove that. Okay, understandable, nothing wrong about that. But she also raised Shining Armor. Like, we acknowledge Twilight Velvet as Twilight Sparkle’s mom, we acknowledge Shining Armor as Twi’s BBBFF, but do we acknowledge Velvet as Shining’s mom? The answer: Not nearly enough.

I have scanned the internet for fan art or fanfics of Velvet and Shining that aren’t sexual and just a mother and son bonding. There is next to nothing, and that’s really sad. The obvious response is that Shining is married, has Cadence and Flurry Heart and a family of his own, and I’m just like: ???? What does that have to do with acknowledging the hard work this woman put into raising such a great pony?

We saw in “Once Upon A Zeppelin” Velvet’s love for adventure. Shining absolutely inherited that from her. Is no one going to talk about that? Is nobody going to talk about the absolute possibility that perhaps Shining’s own imagined adventures as a colt could have influenced her writing career? Let’s not forget the nightmares she comforted him from, the bruises she kissed, and the absolute terror I can only imagine she must have felt when he wanted to become a Royal Guard.

It takes a strong woman to raise a good man. And Shining is a great man. His mother poured herself into giving her family the best life she could. We acknowledge it all the time with Twilight Sparkle, but dammit, we should acknowledge it for Shining Armor too. Shining gets the shaft in this situation a lot because Twilight Sparkle usually has the spotlight. The bottom line is: She’s his mom too, and there should be some acknowledgement of that. Half of the fanfics I’ve found for them, I’ve written myself because I want to right this grave injustice and give people who love this content as much as I do what they deserve. So if you want to recommend me stuff on fimfiction, do it!

Strong women raising good men- let’s celebrate that, guys, and honor the lovely ladies who work hard to turn their sons into the gentlemen that ladies love. Real, fictional, whatever, give them a round of applause. Let’s see the mother son bonding happen. I want to see the adventures she watched Shining go on as a colt with Brutus Force. I want to hear about what Shining was like when he realized he wanted to be a guard and how his Mom encouraged him. I want to see Velvet wipe tears from her son’s eyes as she comforts him from a nightmare. I want to see the Shining Armor and Twilight Velvet content we all deserve.

This is the end of my rant.

I agree, its a sad Thing. Good Thing i waited until Season 3 with my First Story.

I mean, it Really should be more realized in the fandom, i am one of the few who does

i always thought shining armor got his dues but then again i never gave it much thought other than that, which is probably the problem lol

Well if it's any consolation, you're not the only one to ever focus on their bond.

Well, if Velvet isn't Shining Armor's mother, then who is? If it isn't obvious, then some people out there needs a massive heads-up over it. Of course she's his mother! I'm sure anypony who tried to imply otherwise would get a very definite confirmation of the true facts from Twilight and Shiny (and Stellar as well, for that matter).

I must concur, Shining Armor and Twilight Velvet aren't showcased in the series as mother and son. I would have LOVED to have seen Shiny and Cadence getting into an argument and then having Shining Armor going to his mom to ask for help in understanding Cadence's point of view. Such depth of a relationship between parent and child would add just that much more to each character. But, that's just my 1-cent worth of opinion...
