    Missy at BronyCon THE MERCHANDISE

Next I absolutely want to talk about the merch. Not just because there was a lot, but because I really do think that this stuff needs to be better appreciated, given how much work goes into the art, plushies, et cetra. Of course these people make a butt-ton of money at these things, but I really do think people need to show off all the stuff they got and let people know just how much love went

Missy at BronyCon (the first blog) (yes there will be more shut up)

So this is a touch later than I had anticipated to write this. However, my life has been utterly consumed by a little thing called being busy as fuck. Since leaving Bronycon on Monday, I packed up my things from my old apartment, left my old job, moved into my new place, and started my new job. Needless to say, I haven't had time to sit down and write out a blog about Bronycon.

Bronycon Blog (coming soon... *insert Inception noise here*)

It's Monday. I have returned home, safe and sound, tired as hell, and with a lot to think about and say. BronyCon was fantastic, but I cannot put it into words right now. Probably because I'm going to spend the rest of the day resting. However, I will be writing a blog about my wonderful experience, including stuff like the merch I bought and the people I met and ran into. Since it was over four

Missy at BronyCon (the first blog) (yes there will be more shut up) · 12:46am Aug 18th, 2019

I've written little snippets, lest I forget anything significant that happened. But I am going to cut this into parts, because LISTEN, this was my one and only Bronycon I went to, and the first convention I EVER went to. So yeah, I have lots of shit to say.

This blog will just be me writing stuff down as an overall statement. Going to a convention, especially one this big, is like entering a whole other reality. Once I entered Baltimore and stepped into the convention center, I wasn't really in the real world. All around me were fans carrying merch of all variety, cosplayers, people in fursuits—which was weeeird, not the furry thing itself (I have a friend who I ran into who not only is a furry, but when I ran into him he was partially wearing his, so let me tell you, I do not care), but... man, seeing someone in a fursuit up close really does hammer in just how much of a different world fandoms are. I will say, though, some of those fursuits looked incredible and I applaud whoever worked their asses off on them.

And oh my god the cosplayers! If you saw a Princess Big Mac and a Princess Deadpool, I think those two might have been my favorite. I had taken a picture with the former, but my eyes were closed godDAMMIT!!

Speaking of pictures, I'm not someone who takes a lot of pictures. Or being in pictures. For many reasons, one of which being I am not photogenic. Like god I hate most pics I'm in, and of the few I got of myself at Bronycon, I am not a fan of any of them. Aaaaa! Anyway, while I have nothing against taking pictures AT ALL, I'm absolutely someone who prefers to be in the moment and savoring it all. If there's something that I absolutely need a picture of for laughs and memories in the future, I will take a few, but overall, I have a very limited amount of pictures of Bronycon. I'm sure if I was more of a photo nut, I'd have taken a picture with every single bastard I met there, but nah. They were all cool, but it ain't me (shrugs).

That includes even pictures with cosplayers, which I didn't really do many of at all. It's just weird to me, unless they are a really, really awesome cosplay like Princess Big Mac who clearly did not mind and seemed to enjoy it. Being in cosplay does mean opening yourself up to people wanting to take pictures and talk to you (which is why, despite part of me wanting to, I decided not to cosplay as Fluttershy).

Like, as much as I wanted to ask for a picture of the Discord and Fluttershy cosplayers (there were a lot of pairs as those two, and let me just say, that fills me with such delight), I got a case of anxiety and just couldn't bring myself to do it. So if you were part of a pair of Discord and Fluttershy cosplayers at Bronycon, you probably had a twenty-four year old lame-ass shipper just staring at you when you didn't notice and wanting to ask for a picture but never gathering up the nerves to do it. Sorry.

That doesn't mean there wasn't fun to be had, because oh my, fun was had. Very much so. I just didn't want to interrupt the moment by taking out my phone and snapping a picture. Just not my style, though if you prefer to take a picture and capture the moment forever, that's awesome.

There were tons of incredible people there, amazing merch all across the vendor, and a ton of events going on that, no, I did not get to attend much.

I mean, I did get to sit and watch that video of Gilbert Godfrey "singing" This Day Aria, and that alone made that first day. I was laughing my ass off at the idea. Other than that, and aside from seeing the Brony Anthology, I did not really get into any panels or anything that wasn't my friends' and therefore I got in with ease. That was totally great to see, and I'll go into that at another time, too.

However, that didn't really bother me that much. I went to this convention more or less to meet some really good friends of mine, most of them seeing face-to-face for the first time, and actually getting to meet more awesome people from all across the fandom. I know people weren't a fan of the lines or the capping of events, but that wasn't the stuff I went to the convention for, so... yeh, I had an incredible time. And I have so much more to say, but I'll save all of it for future blogs. Which I will get to eventually, I swear!!

I want to save the best for last, so I will definitely talk about the people I met at the very last blog. And there are a lot; most of them Fimficcers. But next blog: THE MERCH!!

I'm glad you had a good time! Also, thank you for explaining what the Gilbert Gottfried thing was about; I wasn't at opening ceremonies, and all I knew was that people were name-dropping him all over the place for some inexplicable reason.

For posterity:

Oh, man. Watching that unfold was an experience. Here was my basic reaction:

"Oh, okay. They're showing This Day Aria. A really popular, really good song. That's cool. Wait, is that—why is he—OH MY GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWD!!" Everyone in the room I was in—it was the vendor room with all the tables, whatever—was cheering and laughing, it was incredible.

So... much... merch... But now I’m broke.

I... can’t believe GG sang that.

I made sure to limit myself due to my broke ass being broke well before the convention, so I thankfully spent less than $100 dollars on merch. I really wanted to buy a plush or two, but uhhhh... guess not lmao.

I was in shock for a few good seconds. It was baffling but so incredible to watch.

I actually don't have the image without captions, so I'll probably have to ask either you or whoever took the pick (Nick, I think?) for the original. But yes, how could I not? Good meme material.
