me checking the dislike ratio on my new story

Glad to know bigotry is still alive and well in this fandom.

It's glad to see some of us didn't watch the same series as I did.

    So where I've been

Okay, uh... how do I begin this? Well, I suppose I should start with the obvious. Yes, I've been distracted. If you follow me on Archive that should be obvious. And if you don't, you totally should btw. Yes, I'm shameless.

Yes, this happened. And yes, people listen to it. · 4:11pm Jul 30th, 2019

Please note, none of the following is made up even with Fox at the helm.

https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/hollywood-reporter-review-dora-and-the-lost-city-of-gold

Reviewer Todd McCarthy called the PG-rated children's film “a story about hormonal teens aimed at little kids.”

He expounds that the film's star, Isabela Moner, is “actually 18 and looks it despite preventive measures," adding that the same issue applies to 19-year-old Jeff Wahlberg, who stars as Dora's cousin Diego.

Yes, this was said.

"There’s a palpable gap you can’t help but notice between the essentially innocent, borderline-pubescent nature of the leading characters and the film itself, and the more confident and mature vibes emanating from the leading actors," McCarthy writes. "The director seems to be trying to keep the hormones at bay, but there are some things you just can’t disguise, perhaps human nature first and foremost. Dora seems committed to projecting a pre-sexualized version of youth, while throbbing unacknowledged beneath the surface is something a bit more real, its presence rigorously ignored."

...Keep in mind, people actually listen to the Hollywood reporters. People live by their word. And that's just... sad. Now, what you should be worried about is stunts like this being pulled with other kids films, no matter how bad they actually are.

So the reporter is complaining......because the movie didn't sexualize the character that's, in the movie, underage?

The sad thing is, people listen to this garbage.

When I saw this trailer I had to shake my head. Stop making little kids stuff live action! Scooby Doo was stretching it originally but they embraced the oddness of the franchise. Unfortunately this movie was made and should've been reshot to get it a “G” rating.

Having actually watched Dora as a pre-schooler, I was outright appalled that they were even trying to make a live-action Dora movie. All I could think of was, "This is basically Tomb Raider for kids!"

Hollywood's basically all but out of ideas by this point.

Basically to sum it up:
WHO THOUGHT THAT TURNING A SHOW AIMED AT YOUNG CHILDREN TO TEACH THEM SPANISH INTO A LIVE ACTION THAT HAS THE LEADING ACTORS TEENAGERS AND DORA BRINGING DESTRUCTIVE OBJECTS TO SCHOOL WAS A GOOD IDEA?!!! THEY DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT AGE TO AIM IT AT!!! IT'S TOO MATURE FOR KIDS, AND NO NORMAL OLDER PERSON WOULD WASTE THEIR TIME WATCHING THIS DESPICABLE THING CALLED A FILM! MY FAITH IN HOLLYWOOD FADES AWAY WHEN THEY SEND US CRAP LIKE THIS!

At this rate, we should be expecting a CGI film with Peppa Pig that features guns, murderers, and bacon. :pinkiehappy: But really, why in the world is this a thing? The fans of Dora are freaking children, and this is anything but aimed for children.

Given how god awful and abominable Peppa Pig is, I wouldn’t be surprised. Seriously, it’s almost like Caillou with how feeble and twisted its’ messages are.

Well look at what happened to the Sonic the Hedgehog movie. It was delayed because the CGI was so bad and the fans tore it apart. At one point some executives or committee got involved in both movies and none of them ever had seen the product before.

They unnecessarily aged up Dora without the giving her the mentality of her current age. That is why after a certain point you are no long in the original property.

Can we stand back and watch it fail miserably before it bursts into flame?

This is America anything can happen. We have pro athletes and movie actors telling everyone how to think and what is important.

Oh please, this movie would need a miracle to even have a chance at succeeding.

But yeah, sometimes I do have to pity the stars at times, given they practically raise our children now. It'd be all too easy for them to say: "I'm an adult, I do what I want. You raise your children." and yet some haven't.

In fact, talking about the Sonic movie, I think someone said the only good thing from the trailer was Jim Carrey.:yay:

Really scraping the bottom of the barrel here Hollywood...or the underside of it all things considered.
