People say Praise is earned, not demanded.
Well that's true, but what you want praise for is a completely different thing, and just as praise can be earned or given, it can just as easily be rejected.
If you want praise, do it right, otherwise don't bother expecting praise for doing something the wrong way.
People have often told me that, and it becomes obvious that I have to explain to them over and over again.
I... will decide what is right or wrong for me, and I will decide what I wish to be praised for and where it is forbidden.
Let us once again look to "My Best Friend's Wedding Gift"
A simple one-shot story about Twilight getting married, and Spike wondering what kind of gift to give her, in the end he comes with nothing, but he and Twilight have a heart-to-heart moment, and in the end all is happy.
That fic makes me so sick to my stomach, even I downvoted it, and I warned in advance what I would do if they DARED to praise me for it.
I delete the comments, and block the user. Sometimes I even send them off with a blow to the face (A snarling message)
Commenter: "Awesome story."
Me: "No it isn't... you're blocked for that!"
Comenter: "Why are you deleting all these comments?"
Me: "I don't want them, that's why. Now go!"
Comenter: "You should make more fics like this."
Me: *Headdesk* "You are so blocked."
I don't like that fic, I don't want to be praised for it, it doesn't feel right to me... and I warned people not to give me praise. They didn't listen, so they got scorned.
Reason I hate that fic...
-I gave a happy ever after to TWILIGHT SPARKLE. I hate that bitch, I've hated her since day one, I came to Equestria to beat her up. I don't like giving her happy endings.
-Those lessons about friendship and love, they don't work all the time in real life. They used to, but not as effectively anymore, so I don't like portraying them as often, even if I have to I still don't like it and while it may be right to the characters, it's not to me.
...So even if you claim I've earned your respect for that fic and others like it...

I refuse to accept praise for doing something I feel is wrong, don't like, and hate.
Just like how Stone Heart behaved in "WRITE OF WAY"

He wrote "Change of Heart" which consists of Hero nobility, moving on, accepting defeat and little reward, and all the things he hates and can't stand (Same as me)
So he refuses to accept money for it, even if it's a golden ticket to easy living, "The answer is "No" and if he does receive money for it, he donates it to charity for the sole-purpose of getting rid of money he earned for something he hates.
He also refuses to acknowledge any fans.
-He won't sign autographs
-Is not interested in attending autograph sessions
-Has no intention of make anymore stories of such "Filth and Tripe"
-Not even attending Celesta's royal book-club, which many ponies would be honored to.
If you like his story, then he doesn't like you and wants very little to do with you.
He won't swallow his pride and let others walk all over him and TELL him what is Right or Wrong.
So instead he works 3 different jobs which pay well, works hard tells Twilight to back off and get off his case and stop trying to improve him in a way he does not approve of and does not wish.

I will decide what is right and wrong for my fan-fiction, and I will decide where praise is welcome and where it is not.
Even if sometimes I have to go against my own code and put in things I don't like, just because the characters did it doesn't mean I like or approve of it, even it was the plan to begin with.
-Much as I do enjoy Beast Boy forgiving the Titans, and getting back with Terra and living happily ever after, these days I really prefer the harsh endings... either BB still rejects the Titans and runs off, or he is killed, so they don't get a chance to make up with him.
-BB is punished for giving up on Terra in the first place
-Terra is punished for Things Change
-The Titans are punished for being shameful, neglectful and disrespecting slug-heads. (even if they tried to help BB, they did it the WRONG way.)
RIGHT WAY: Beast Boy walking out on Starfire because doesn't know what she's talking about and isn't helping.
WRONG WAY: Starfire giving that old "Plenty of fish in the Sea" lecture, and saying all the Wrong things to the Wrong person.
I have decided... and I give Praise to Beast Boy for doing the WHAT I CONSIDER the right way, and Scold Starfire for doing WHAT I CONSIDER the wrong thing.
WRONG WAY: I don't want Cyborg acting like that, he would like that in the earlier seasons, but not anymore. Even if he does act this way, he is still NOT helping, just saying all the wrong things to the wrong person again!
RIGHT WAY: No, he would act like my haters do...
"Get over yourself."
"Grow up!"
"The past is gone! Just let it go and move on, or you'll never be anything!"
RIGHT WAY: Help him get Terra back!
WRONG WAY: Helping him find strength to move on/ Forcing him to either be like them, or be regarded as a good-for-nothing freak.
That is my decision, preference, and way of going about it.
I will decide what is right and wrong in my fan-fiction, and I will decide where praise is to be.
And I decide that if BB willingly lets Terra go and tries to move on...

TBF to the hero bit, being a hero, in a modern context, is basically someone who does the morally good thing, does so without expecting reward, and because they can. If you go more classical hero, it basically means powerful person who can do whatever the fuck they want
