My Movie Review on Toy Story · 2:44pm Jul 29th, 2019

My 55th film review? Already?

Boy, my reviewing senses sure have been high. One look at a movie, and I suddenly find myself reviewing it.

Anyway, today, I decided to review what I believe to be one of the best movies ever made, and make my debut of reviewing a film done by one of the best animation companies of all time: Pixar's "Toy Story".

Here's the rundown of this movie:

Woody has been the favorite toy of his owner, Andy, for quite some time. He's also been the leader of the toys in Andy's room, including Rex, Slinky, Potato Head, Hamm the Piggy Bank, and Bo Peep.

However, when Andy gets a new toy, a space ranger named Buzz Lightyear for his birthday, Woody suddenly finds himself feeling replaced and forgotten because Andy seems to favor Buzz now.

Buzz, meanwhile, thinks that he's an actual space ranger and has no clue what being a toy is like or what the values of being one are.

Will Woody and Buzz ever get along? Will Buzz ever discover how being a toy is better than being a space ranger? And will Woody ever discover what's more important than being favored by Andy and the actual values he has as a toy?

I'm not gonna deny it, this movie is a truly revolutionary masterpiece. It has every right to be one too.

Pixar made use of its computer animation in such a groundbreaking way! Under the leadership of John Lasseter, the team was able to make everything so three-dimensional, you feel as if you're in the adventure and in the world of Toy Story itself!

The direction by John Lasseter, and the story written by Lasseter, Pete Docter, Andrew Stanton, and Joe Ranft, was likewise astounding. And so was the screenplay by Stanton, Joss Whedon, Joel Cohen, and Alec Sokolow.

I love how much emotion and heart that Lasseter and the others put into the whole thing, as well as the amount of thought they put into making this film compelling. Everything was just so marvelously character-driven, and it all managed to tie together perfectly. The unique appeal it has for children and older audiences is also something I highly commend, as well as the awesome dialogue and sense of humor the film has.

Randy Newman's music score was top-notch as well. Similar to Lasseter, the writers, and screenwriters, Newman put his heart and soul in being involved in this film, and the result of his efforts are so astounding! The decision to not make this movie a musical made it even more significant, mainly because there was no place for the characters to randomly sing and dance. Newman's singing and songwriting for this picture was perfect, and a breakthrough for future animated films.

Finally, it all comes down to the voice acting, casting, characters, and character development.

The characters are total awesomeness! Each of them have a wonderful personality that makes them so unique and distinct, and the performers who portray them fit their parts like gloves. For instance, Don Rickles (rest in peace, Sir) gave his character of Mr. Potato Head a lovable sense of sarcasm, with hilarious timings of insult humor on the side.

Tom Hanks was definitely amazing with his portrayal of Woody. I love how he was able to throw himself into the character with spectacular emotion and vocal strength, even making his character lovable despite the fact that he can be a show off at times. Woody himself also had awesome character development throughout the movie.

If I have to pick favorites, however...the best member of the cast, in my opinion, is Tim Allen and his character of Buzz Lightyear.

Out of everyone onboard the film, Allen had all of the best comedic-timings, and his performance was so powerful and full of emotion. He was clearly born for the role, because to me, I don't think anyone but Allen would've been right for portraying Buzz Lightyear. He even gave Buzz terrific personality throughout.

Buzz's character development was likewise amazingly powerful, and so was the character himself. Especially when he's coming to terms with being a toy and not a real space ranger, and when Woody helps him discover the joys of being a toy.

The chemistry that both Allen and Hanks created between their characters, and the growing friendship between Buzz and Woody, are also what I'd like to call some of the film's most spectacular of elements.

In conclusion, "Toy Story" is not only an animated film that made history, it's a film that's absolutely worthy of anyone's time, thanks to its groundbreaking animation, stunning story, beautiful music, excellent sense of humor and emotion, and strong vocal performances and characters. Might I even say it's one forever worthy of our hearts.

So, I rate "Toy Story" a complete five out of five stars. Stay tuned for my review of "Toy Story 2" coming soon as my 65th film review.

Toy story series has been one of my favorites

Toy Story is my favorite Pixar movie of all time.

What a classic! This is one of those movies that deserves every bit of praise it gets! :)

The nostalgia I feel is strong in this review. I still remember the first time I watched it. Good times. 👌

I love this movie! It really is one of the best movies ever!

"Toy Story" was good, but I think "Toy Story 2" was better. I haven't seen 3 or 4.

I honestly didn't appreciate this movie until I was older. I thought the animation looked weird as a kid.

One of the greatest Pixar movies ever. Of course, I love all of them.

This movie not only started a franchise but the CGI format as we know it. I dont think this film's importance and influence can be overstated. This movie has made our hearts and animated movies in general, "to infinity and beyond!":raritystarry::pinkiehappy:

What do you think of this movie as someone older than a child, by any chance?

I still think the animation is weird, but the story more than makes up for it.
