I've got to start doing posts like this... · 11:04am Feb 18th, 2019
Regular accountability posts, I mean.
I haven't gotten nearly enough writing done these past... oh, couple years or so. And that's on me. I'm not going to get into excuses, since I don't feel that I really have any valid ones. No medical problems, no dire circumstances, no my-world-is-imploding crises.
The big thing on my plate making me start this:
Sunrise should have been out a long time ago. Like, a year ago. The only reason it's not is because I just haven't put in the work to make that happen.
But I am still working on it, and actually, it's almost done!
Chapter 14 is out to the pre-readers for a while now. They've left me good feedback on it. It's closing in on final draft shape.
What's more, I'm already 1600 words into chapter 15 (actually, I'm writing this while taking a break from writing that, so I'll probably be further in than that momentarily), which is probably around halfway done with the projected content I have for that chapter.
After that, it's most likely just two more chapters and we're done and ready to publish.
Exciting! If, and that's always the big if, I can stick with it and finish it up. Which brings me to this post, and why I need to get into the habit of making regular posts, I don't know, maybe weekly or something, to publicly record how much I've written. Maybe the embarrassment of having to report 0 words if I get lazy will keep putting some spurs in me. Here's hoping.
Seriously, though, I really am getting excited for Sunrise. It's my second novel-length thing, and I'm having a ton of fun with it. I hope you'll all have as much fun reading it when the day comes.
So there you go, I guess, 1600 words of fresh progress to report. Not bad. Not like when I was writing Ghost Lights and publishing a whole chapter every week, but maybe I'll get there again. We'll see.
And for now: back to it, I guess...
If this post was a mood, it'd describe me perfectly. I've got wayyyyy too many things languishing in my Drafts folder.
I should do some accountability posts too.
