MLP villain rankings: Adagio Dazzle · 8:57pm Feb 17th, 2019

0/10 - AWFUL (unsalvageable, never should have been made, wouldn't recommend to anyone)
1/10 - HORRIBLE/BORING (tedious, hurts to watch, a bore, no reason to watch him/her, whatever positive things about him/her are tiny and not enough)
2/10 - VERY BAD (slightly less terrible, maybe there were one or two things you liked kept him/her from being a 1 but still very painful)
3/10 - BAD (the kind of bad where you're checking your watch over and over to see how much time is left before he/she gets off the screen)
4/10 - MEDIOCRE (not awful but not really that good either)
5/10 - EH (average, didn't love or hate him/her)
6/10 - DECENT (the first positive rating on this list, fine overall, glad you saw him/her once but wouldn't watch him/her again)
7/10 - GOOD (enjoyable enough that you'd maybe watch him/her again in future, had some noteworthy flaws but is overall a worthwhile villain)
8/10 - GREAT (a solid, enjoyable villain, very entertaining)
9/10 - EXCELLENT (very engaging, awesome, you definitely recommend to anyone)
10/10 - MASTERPIECE (extremely engaging, an absolute must-see)

Adagio Dazzle

Sweet Celestia’s titanic sun-tattooed rear, talk about a huge step-up from the first Equestria Girls movie.

Let’s go through the list, shall we?

Adagio Dazzle is…

Alluring.

Manipulative.

Intimidating.

Cunning.

Sadistic.

Competent.

Resourceful.

Legitimately scary.

Patient like a spider waiting in the nest for her prey to come to her.

Always ten steps ahead of everyone else.

A villain who doesn’t waste time planning but instead watches her enemies’ slip-ups closely, waiting for an opportunity to exploit and turn into an advantage for herself.

A bad guy who actually defeated the Humane Six in the final battle and would've won if Sunset hadn't been there to help them try again.

Yep, Adagio’s a damn awesome villain in my book.

1st September update: As for her return in Sunset’s Backstage Pass, after so many poorly-done redemptions, it was incredibly relieving that the writers didn’t reform the Dazzlings or try to make me feel sorry for a trio of villains who mercilessly tried to enslave the world. I’m honestly amazed the show staff restrained themselves this time. While no longer a threat, the Dazzlings still hate the Humane Seven for defeating them and destroying their gems. They’ve just begrudgingly accepted they’re stuck in the human world permanently and have to make a living as travelling musicians without any magic. Adagio calling the audience “human scum” under her breath definitely got a laugh out of me.

(sigh) Shame the most recent MLP villains after Season 4 can’t hold a candle to her.

10/10 MASTERPIECE

Adagio really has set a standard that the rest of the villains onward can't really topple.

Quite the high mark indeed. It's a toss-up as to who my favorite villain is, my choice often rotates between Dagi, Discord and Tirek.

Also, and this isn't a complaint, I was a wee bit surprised that you just focused on Adagio and not the Dazzlings as a whole. I can see WHY you did that, since Dagi really is the main force of their scheme and all...

You know, many of the things you've said about the villains so far have seemed quite similar to what Lily Orchard said in her Who's The Best Villain video. Coincidence? I think not. Though I can't really blame you. She DID explain things very well.

Yeah, she inspires me to articulate my opinions more clearly and think more critically about things, not to mention brings up points I never thought about before, particularly with King Sombra's cunning.

Adagio on her own is a pretty good villain, perhaps the best. It's really too bad that she has two underdeveloped sisters. Aria is just there and Sonata is just the generic comedic relief member, who everyone forgets willingly goes along with everything her sisters do.
